SoresearchersinAustraliaranatest.In2013,theyreleasedsome35,000Wolbachia—carryingAedesaegyptiatonesite,131,000atasecondsite,and286,000atathirdsite,allinthecityofCaims.Andtheytrackedtheinsects’distribution.Seemstheinfectedmosquitoesspreadoutwardfromthetwolargerintroductionareasataslowbutsteadyrateofabout100to200metersperyear.Themosquitoesinthesmallergroupremainedwheretheywere.
