CInthe1330’s,thebubonicplaguereturned,thistimeinAsia.Itwouldspreadrapidlyandetobeknownas“TheBlackDeath”.TheconditionsinmuchofAsiaandEurope–war,climatechange,alackofadequatefood,crowdedcitiesandalackofbasichealthroutines---providedtheperfectconditionsforthediseasetospreadworldwide.

DOverninemonths,thenumberofglobalcasespassed8,000and774peopledied.AlthoughthesenumbersaremuchsmallerthanthenumberforotherdiseasessuchasTBorflu,whichkillmillionseveryyear,theoutbreakwasstillveryalarmingforafewkeyreasons.

F.Epidemicsaredescribedinhistoricalaccountsasearlyas430BCandoneoftheearliestonrecordisJustinian’sPlague.Ithappenedabout500-550ADasRomanEmperorJustinianwasattemptingtorebuildandacquiremorelandfortheRomanEmpire.ItsweptthroughNorthAfrica,theMiddleEastandEurope.
