UsingtheHappyEnglishTeachingMethodtoStimulatethePupils'InterestinLearningEnglish
Abstract:
Firstly,thispapertoldussomerelatedtheoriesofinterest.Frompsychologicalandphysiologicalangles,wecanfindtherelationshipofdevelopingtheirinterestandlearningEnglish.Thestudents'interestplaysanimportantpartinEnglishlearning,especiallyinprimaryschool.Secondly,inordertoachievethispurposeofimprovingthequalityofEnglishteaching,thehappyEnglishteachingmethodshouldbeappliedbyteachers.Itsadvantagescanbefoundbycomparingwiththetraditionalmethod.Next,providingsomeusefulstrategiesofthismethodinthepupilEnglishclass.Afterwards,givingsomesuggestionstoarousepupils'interest.Finally,concludingitsbenefitforpupils'Englishstudyifwehandlewellofthemethod.

1.Introduction
Withtherapiddevelopmentofeconomicglobalization,asweallknow,Englishhasbecomethemostwidelyusedlanguageininternationalcommunicationaroundtheworld.TheprimaryschoolEnglishteachingisthefoundationofbasiceducationaswellasthekeytocultivatingandtrainingtalents.ItisnodoubtthatEnglisheducationplaysasignificantroleinthebasiceducationofChina.InordertomakepupilsasolidfoundationinEnglish,primaryschoolteachersarefacedwithanewandtoughchallenge,inwhichishowtoteachEnglishwell.Thekeytoachievethegoalistoinspirepupils'motivationstolearnintheEnglishclass.Themotivationisnotonlyaninnerstrengthforpromotingstudents’Englishlearninginterests,butalsoisastrongdrivingforceforstudentstolearn.OncestudentshaveadeepinterestinEnglish,theywouldbehappytolearnandlearnactively.
2.1.TheRelatedTheoriesofArousingthePupils'interest
2.1.1Whatisinterest?
Toexplaininterestinpsychologicalterms,itisatendencyofexploringsomethingsactivelyandsomeactivities.Itobtainsapositiveattitudeandselectiveemotion.Peoplewillpaymoreattentiontothingswhichtheythinkit'sinteresting.Forexample,ifayoungboyisinterestedinplayingfootball,hewillgraspopportunitiestoparticipateinplayingfootballactively,watchingthegames,readingthesportmagazines,evenhewilltryhisbesttojoinafootballteamandbecomeaformalplayer.Hefeelshappy,relaxedandmuchfunwhenplayingfootball.Onthecontrary,iftheboyloseinterestinfootball,hewillneverdothose.
2.1.2Thefunctionsofinteresttolearn
Whatislearning?
Itisasocialpracticeactivitywhichisinfluencedbyinterest.Learningrequiresinterest,andlearningEnglishneedsmore.Theinterestforastudent’sindividualdevelopmenthasahugefunctiontohisstudyandlife.Onlystudentsareinterestedinsomethingwilltheyhaveactivebrains,thinkdeeplyandobtainmoreknowledge.AstheChina—bornAmericanProfessorDingZhaozhongoncesaid,“Anyscientificresearchneedstheinterestimportantly.Itmaymakethehumanconcentratetheenergytoobtaintheknowledge,andcompletethecurrentactivitycreatively,developtheintellect,enrichtheknowledge,openthevision”.
2.2.DifferentAnglestoAnalysetheInfluencesonLearningEnglish
2.2.1Frompsychologicalangle
Apsychologicalsurveyshowsthattheoutstandingfeaturesofpupilsarebeingnaughty,lively,andeasilytiredwhileattendingaclass,andtheycannotconcentratethemindonlearningnewthingsforalongertimethanadults.Tomakefullofpupils'advantagesandavoidtheirdisadvantages,teachersshouldhelptoarousetheircuriosity,andenhancetheirconfidenceduringtheclass.Toencourageeverystudenttotakeactivepartinclass,andenjoythemsevles.Letthemknowstudyingisakindofhappythingbutnotakindofburden.
2.2.2Fromphysiologicalangle.
Thereisanexcitementcenterinthebraincortexwhichcanmakeattentiongatheringattentive,memorysharp,thinkingactiveandcangiveaquickreactionclearly.(李如密,1995)Onthecontrary;nointerestmeansnoreactions.Sograspingtheinterestisveryimportantinteachingintheprimaryschools."Sinceinterestisthebestteacher,ithasasignificanteffectonpupils’learningefficiencyandintelligence-developing."(殷炳江,2003)TheefficientwaytostudyEnglishwellistodeveloptheinterestofyounglearners.Interestnotonlycanpromotethelearners’abilitytoputthemintostudyenthusiastically,butalsocanenrichthetheirknowledge,opentheirminds.Theperiodofprimaryschoolisanimportantdevelopingperiodforchildren,andit'salsothefirststepintostudyingandlivingapartfromthefamilytoschool.(郭德俊,2002)Therefore,asateachershouldtellprimarystudentstheimportanceoflearningEnglishwell.Itisafact,acceptedbyallofus,thatEnglishisthemostwidelyusedlanguageintheworld.Intherapidinformativeera,Englishhasrelatedtomanyareas,suchaspolitics,economy,medicine,scienceandtechnology.ThenlearnerswillhaveastrongdesiretostudyhardinEnglishlearningafterknowingtheseknowledge.Atthesametime,primarylearners'interestwillbestimulated.
2.3.1TheInterestisImportantKeyinElementarySchoolEnglishTeaching
Onthehand,thekeyfeaturesofprimaryschoolpupils'arenaughty,overactive,easilytiredoutwhichresultsintheirshortattentionspan.Ontheotherhand,forChinesestudents,Englishisnotasecondorathirdlanguage,butaforeignlanguage,becauseitislackofEnglishlearningatmosphere.Einstein,“Interestisthebestteacher”.Andasiscommonlyaccepted,interestisthekeytosuccess.Thuswherethereisnointerest,therewillbenolearning.Noneofknowledgedon'tneedinterestandmemory.OnceaneducatorA.M.saidthatpleasedtolearnthingswillneverbeforgotten.Therefore,todevelopinterestisthenecessarytomastertheknowledgeofEnglishforstudents,tostimulatethepupils’interestinlearningisextremelyimportantinteachingEnglish,andtoarousetheirinterestistheroadleadingtothesuccessfulEnglishlearning.
3.1theDifferenceBetweentheTroditionEnglishTeachingMethodandtheHappyEnglishMethod
3.1.1therelationshipbetweenteachesandstudents
Languageisatooltocommunicationsothatitsgoalistocommunicatewithothers.ThetraditionalEnglishteachingmethodemphasizetheteacher-oriented,andteachersaredominantinthecourse.InthetraditionalEnglishclass,teachersalwayspaymoreattentiontosendknowledgebutignorethelearner'sfeeling,regardlessofthecharacteristicofchildren'sage.HappyEnglishteachingmethodisastudent-centredmethod.Thismethodthinkstheteacher'sguideasthesameasthestudent-centredarethemainbody.Tosumup,Englishteachingisnotonlyconcernteachers,butalsopaymuchattentiontostudents.Inordertopromotepupilleaners'developmentinEnglish,teachersshouldrealizeteachingpurposeistofosterlearners'positiveattitude,taptheirpotentialandtrainthepracticalability.

4.SomeStrategiesofHappyEnglishTeachingMeothdinthePupilStudents'EnglishClass

Teachingcontentsshouldbeclosedtothestudents'life.Thetraditionalcoursepaymoreattentiontothegrammarandvocabularyinordertoimprovethestudent'sabilityofusingEnglish.Theteachershouldtakeadvantageofthefreshandlivelyteachingcontents,likecolour,food,number,toys,animalsandplants,family,friend,school,objects,etc.Inthemeantime,theteachermayuesthechildren'sfavouriteformofexpressionsuchaspoetry,drama,fable,fairytale,andrhythm.Ontheonehand,younglearnerswilldevelopthesenseoflanguageandgainEnglishknowledgeeasily.Ontheotherhand,primarystudentswillcultivatetheabilityofobservation,memory,imagination,initiativeandcreativity.
4.2.1Usingthemodernteachingtechnology
Nowadays,itisacommonphenomenonthatmodernteachingtechnologyisappliedtoeducation.Everychildlikeswatchingcartoonandlisteningtomusic,theaudio-visualteachingcanmakechildrenlearninplayingandplayinlearning.Itusesimages,pictures,cartoons,storiesandmusictoteachpupildirectlytoincreasepupils’interestsinstudying.Learningthenewknowledgewithhappyisveryimportantforthepupils.Duringtheteaching,thecolorfulscene,thebeautifulmusic,theinterestingconversationandthevividpronunciationswillattractthepupilsandmaketheirbrainexcitedallthetime.Withthetimegoing,they'llimprovealotintheirEnglis
