MarySawyer（1806－1889）livedonafarmwithherfamily．Oneday,whenshewasaboutnineyearsold,shesawalittlelambthathadjustbeenbornandleftbehindbyitsmother．Itwasveryweakandlookedasifitwoulddieatverymoment．Marytookpityonthelambandspentthewholenightlookingafterit．Eventually,itgrewstrongandbecameaveryclosefriendwithMary,followinghereverywhereshewent．
