Abstract

SubmissionforDraftP802.11ac_D0.1commentresolution.Thedocumentaddressesvariouscommentsrelatedtotransmitpowerlimitconfigurationforwiderbandwidthsuchas80MHz,160MHz,andnon-contiguous80+80Mhzchannelbandwidths.

Introduction

InterpretationofaMotiontoAdopt

AmotiontoapprovethissubmissionmeansthattheeditinginstructionsandanychangedoraddedmaterialareactionedintheTGacDraft.Thisintroductionisnotpartoftheadoptedmaterial.

EditinginstructionsformattedlikethisareintendedtobecopiedintotheTGacDraft(i.e.theyareinstructionstothe802.11editoronhowtomergethetextwiththebaselinedocuments).

Discussion:

WiththesupportofverywidebandwidthsinVHT,thetransmissionsignalmaybesubjecttovarioustransmitpowerconstraintgivenbytheregulatorybody.ForexampleinUSthetransmitpowerforUNII-1andUNII-2aredifferent,wherethe160MHztransmissionsignalcanbetransmittedacrossthesebands.

Therearetwocomponentstolimitingtransmissionpowerfor802.11,thefirstisthetransmitpowerinformationgivenbytheCountryinformationelement,andthesecondispowerconstraintelementwhichgivefurtherrestrictionsontopofthemaximumtransmitpowerspecifiedbytheCountryIE.

SincetheVHTtransmissioncanbealsotransmittedinnon-contiguousmannerandalsosupportdynamicswitchingbetween20,40,80,160/80+80MHzbandwidths,wemustbeabletoindicatenon-contiguousbandswhicharebackwardcompatible.Figure1showssomeexamplesofhowthetransmitpowermaychangefordifferenttransmissionbandwidths.

AftersomediscussiontheuseofCountryIE,wereceivedcommentswheretheremightbeissueswithlegacySTAsinterpretingtheCountryIEwithoperatingtripletwithoperatingextensionidentifierwith201orabove.Becauseofthisweproposetodefinenewinformationelementwiththeneededinformation.Intheproposedtextwecallthisinformationelement‘VHTTransmitPowerEnvelopeelement’.

Thetwofields‘ChannelCenterFrequencySegment’and‘SegmentChannelWidth’arerepeatedasneeded,asdeterminedbythe‘Length’field.

Thepowerconstraintelementcontainsthelocalmaximumtransmitpowerinthecurrentchannel.Thiselementcanbeusedinbothcontiguousandnon-contiguoustransmissionsignals,butifthewidebandsignalisbeingtransmittinginmultipleregulatorytransmitpowerlimitdomains,thenwemayneedtofurtherindicatehowdifferentiatethetransmitpowerlimitforsmallerbandwidthandlargebandwidths.Forthisweproposetoaddoneelementwhichextendsthepowerconstraintelement.WeproposetoextenditbyalsoincludingbandwidthinformationsothatVHTdevicescanunderstandforwhichbandwidthsthelocalpowerconstraintapplies.Sinceiftheoperatingchannelbandwidthiseither20or40MHz,thereisnoneedforthisextendedpowerconstraintelement,weproposeonlytosignaltheextendedpowerconstraintelementiftheAPisoperatinginchannelwidthslagerthan80MHzorabove.
