Thegovernmentrespondedwithviolence,andUnitedNationsofficialssaythousandsofpeoplehavedied.

Aswetoldyouaboutyesterday,theU.N.SecurityCouncildidnotpasstheresolutionthatwouldhavedemandedanendtotheviolenceinSyria.SomemembersofthecouncilarefuriouswithRussiaandChina.Thosearethetwocountriesthatvotedagainsttheresolution.
RussiaandChinasaytheywantthefightingtostop,buttheydidn`tagreewiththelanguageintheresolution.OneSyrianprotectorsaidSyria`sgovernmentsteppedupitscrackdownaftertheresolutionfailedtopassintheU.N.Theprotesterssaid,quote,"TheU.N.gavethemthegreenlighttoinflictmoreviolence."

Healthofficialssay135peoplehavelosttheirlivesbecauseoftheseicy,frigidconditions.Mostofthemarehomeless,andsowhattheauthoritiesaredoingissettinguptentslikethese.

Some3,200namesofslaves,freeblacksandslaveholdershavebeenenteredintothedatabasesofar,andthesiteisupdatedweekly.

Forsolongpeopledidnotknowwhotheirancestorswere,didnotknowwheretoevengotolookforit.Andit`simportantforpeopletoknowwhotheyare,becausehavingthatsenseofidentityenablespeopletohaveasenseofdignity,asenseofknowingwhotheyarewithinthisAmericanlandscape.
