摘要

18世纪见证了英国社会的没落，而就是在这个世纪产生了一位伟大的讽刺大师——乔纳森.斯威夫特。

经过在英国32年的风风雨雨，他回到了爱尔兰，以其敏锐的观察力写下了不朽的巨著《格列佛游记》。

在这部小说里，斯威夫特分别描绘了四个通话故事般的小故事，然而当我们反复阅读，细细品味揣摩这些有趣的故事时，除了对书中怪诞的人物，故事情节觉得十分有趣之外，我们还看到了18世纪整个英国社会的缩影。

整部小说涉及政治，宗教，科学军事等等方面的事务，斯威夫特通过象征，夸张，反语，对比等修辞手法，将故事叙述的充满趣味，以此达到一种讽刺的效果，对英国社会进行全面深刻的剖析和抨击。

斯威夫特对讽刺艺术的完美运用极大地推动了世界讽刺文学的发展，对后来的文学作品产生了重要影响，奠定了其在文学史上的地位。
