Whenstudying,Ionlyhadtoworryaboutmyexams. Butnow,Ihavetoworryaboutmyunpaidbills,mymortgageandmychildren’sexams.

Yeah,Ican’tagreemore. Ireallyfeelit’sahugewasteoftimetolearnasecondlanguagefromothercountrywhenwecanworkoutawayforeveryonetospeakthesamelanguage. IthinkEsperantoisagreatidea.

Vegetables,ofcourse. Allvegetablesarenaturallylowinfatandfullofvitamins,mineralsandfiber. Actually,vegetablesareamustonmydiet. 

Tobefrank,Idon’treallyseethepointofarrangingfoodsintoa“healthyfood”classoran“unhealthyfood”class. Whatweshouldrealizeisthatitisourchoiceoffoodandoureatinghabitthatreallymatters. SoIfeelitisreallyunfairtodescribepizza,chipsandicecreamasjunkfood. Withoutthem,eatingseemstobelessfun. 

Canyouconsiderwhyfastfoodrestaurantsinyourtownarepopular?

It’struethatfastfoodrestaurantslikeKFCandMcDonald’sareverypopularhere. Theycanbefoundonalmostallhighstreets. Iguesspeoplearealwaysreadytotrysomeexoticfoodsfromothercountries. Andthesewesternfastfoodrestaurantsareclean,casualandcomfortable,whichhavebecomefashionablesocialbases. 

Canyouconsiderthedifferencebetweenmenandwomenintheirshoppinghabits?

Concerningshopping,Ithinkmenandwomenholddistinctattitude. Formen,shoppinghappenswhentheirsockswearout. However,womenshopevenifthewardrobesarefull. Apparently,women’sdesiretoshopisendlessandthisissomethingmencanneverunderstand.

Certainly. Itmakesagoodcompensationforothercourseslikemathandphysics,whichIthinkareverydullandboring. Singingtogetherwithmyschoolmatesismuchmorefun.

Arethereanynegativeeffectsifchildrenaretaughttoplayamusicalinstrument?

Well,itishardtosay. Personally,Ibelievethatitisundoubtedlyofgreatbenefittoachild’smusicaldevelopment. However,somechildrenwhoareforcedbytheirparentstoplayamusicalinstrumentdon’treallythinkso. Iguesstheyhavetheirreasons.   

Howdotheoldpeoplelookatyoungpeoplefashion?

Ifyouaskme,thoughIhaven’thit50,Ithinkadaringlyfashionableminiskirtisalwaysconsidereddangerouslyinappropriatebyoldpeople. ButIcanseewhytheyhavestrongreaction. Onceyouhit50,itistimetothinktwiceaboutminiskirts. 

Whatdoyouthinkofthefashiontoday?

 “Unexplainable”istheonlywordformetoexplainfashion. ButIdofeeltherearemanypeoplestronglyinfluencedbyit,otherwisetherewon’tbesomanyfashionvictimswalkingonthestreets,whowearunreasonablyexpensiveclothesbutlookperfectlyridiculous. 

Inwhatwayshastourismchangedyourcountry?

I’mnotsosurebutbyattractingmoreforeignvisitors,tourismhelpstoboosteconomyandcreatemorejobs. Atthesametime,inordertoenhancethecity’simage,thegovernmentpaysmoreattentiontotherenovationandmaintenanceoftheinfrastructure. Sotourismbenefitsnotonlyindividualsbutacountryaswell.

Whatisthepublictransportationlikeyourtown?

I thinkthechoicesofpublictransportationaresufficienthereinthetown. Therearetaxi,busandsubwaywhichisarelativelynewcomer. However,likemostoftheotherbigcities,trafficcongestionwasandisstillaseriousproblem.  Nowwiththegovernment’surgetorevitalizeautomobileindustry,thenumberofprivatecarsisdramaticallyincreasing,whichmakesthepresentproblemevenworse. 

Howdoyouthinkitcouldbeimproved?

Thisisaquestionneedingquitesomeconsideration. AsfarasI’mconcerned,whatsoundsmorefeasibleatthemomentistodiscourageprivatecardrivingbuttoschedulemorepublictransportlikebuses. 

CanyouconsideranynegativeeffectswatchingTVmightcause?

Undoubtedly,TVentertainspeople. However,TVviolenceiswhatworriesparentsmost. Inordertoattractandholdaudiences,TVviolencehasbecomesographicthatchildrenmaybemorelikelytobehaveinaggressiveorharmfulwaystowardsothers. 

Theeffectsoftelevisionseemtobemoreintensiveonyoungerviewers. ThemoretimechildrenspendwatchingTV,thelesstimetheyarespendingdoingotherimportantactivitieslikereading,gettingexercise,beingoutdoorsandtalkingwithfamilies. Consequentlychildrenhavesuchproblemslikelowerreadingscores,obesityandpoorphysicalfitness.

Yes,Ithinkso. Everycountryhastraditionalfestivals. Thesefestivals,apartfromitsreligiousimportance,alsohelpincreatingsocial,culturalandemotionalbondsamongpeople. Besides,peoplegettohaveholidaysduringbigfestivalslikeChineseNewYear. 

HowdoyoucomparetheChinesefestivalswiththewesternfestivals?

AsfarasIknow,westernfestivalsarecountedaccordingtosolarcalendar,whereasChinesefestivalsuselunarcalendar. That’swhyChineseNewYearisnotthefirstdayoftheyearonsolarcalendar. OneanotherdifferenceisthatChinesefestivalsarenotasreligiousasthewesternones.
