InDecember1940thenetworkwasbetrayedandNancywasforcedtogointohiding.ShecontinuedtoworkfortheFrenchResistanceandwaseventuallyarrestedwhileinToulouse.However,theauthoritiesdidnotrealizetheyhadcapturedthewomanknownasthe“WhiteMouse”andshewassetfreeafterfourdays.

ItwasnowtoodangeroustoremaininoccupiedFranceandNancycrossedthePyreneesintoSpainbeforetravellingtoBritain.ShenowjoinedtheSpecialOperationsExecutive（SOE）andagreedtobecomeaBritishspecialagent（特工）.

On29thApril1944,NancywasparachutedintotheAuvergneregionofFrance.HermainaimwastolocatelocalsoldiersandtoprovidethemwithsomegunsthatwerebeingdroppedbyparachutebytheRoyalAirForcefourtimesaweek.

NancyhadthetaskofhelpingtheresistancetoprepareforthearmeduprisingthatwasduetocoincidewiththeD-Daylandings.ShealsoledanattackagainsttheGestapoheadquartersinMountuconandaGermangunfactory.HenriTardivat,oneofhercomradesintheresistancelatersaidthat:
