外国语学院08级英语师范(一班)曲梦娇20081115020031JaneEyreisapieceofautobiographicalfiction.ItisCharlotte.Bronte’sfirstnovelpublishedin1849.Thenovelcreatesafemaleimagewhoisagainstsocialpressurewithrebellionandindependence.Feministcriticismcomesinmanyforms,andfeministcriticshaveavarietyofgoals.Somehavebeeninterestedinrediscoveringtheworksofwomenwritersoverlookedbyamasculine-dominatedculture.Othershaverevisitedbooksbymaleauthorsandreviewedthemfromawoman'spointofviewtounderstandhowtheybothreflectandshapetheattitudesthathaveheldwomenback.1Anumberofcontemporaryfeministshaveturnedtotopicsasvariousaswomeninpostcolonialso-cieties,women'sautobiographicalwritings,lesbiansandliterature,womanlinessasmasquerade,andtheroleoffilmandotherpopularmediaintheconstructionofthefemininegender.Amonghundredsofwritingsintheworld,JaneEyrestandsoutandgivesusavividimpression.SunWeimin,arguedinherarticlethat,theclassicJaneEyretellstheheroineofindependentself-esteem,thepursuitofpersonalequality,lovethestoryofsingle-mindeddedication2.Hertirelesspursuitofthetirelessspiritofthecharacterofequalityisrespected,hercontemptforthewealthofthegasstunningproudly,hersingle-mindeddedicationandfearlesslovetheconceptofmoving.However,JaneEyre'sinnerexistenceoftheinferioritycomplexofataboo.JaneEyregoesbeyondtheinferioritycomplexwhichhighlightsofhercharisma.1RossCMurfin.FeministReadings:
