  In1826,aFrenchmannamedNiepceneededpicturesforhisbusiness.Buthewasnotagoodartist.Soheinventedaverysimplecamera.Heputitinawindowofhishouseandtookapictureofhisgarden.Thatwasthefirstphoto.

  Thenextimportantdateinthehistoryofphotographywasin1837.Thatyear,Daguere,anotherFrenchman,tookapictureofhisreadingroom.Heusedanewkindofcamerainadifferentway.Inhispictureyoucouldseeeverythingveryclearly,eventhesmallestthing.ThiskindofphotowascalledaDaguerreotype.
