Thedeserttortoisefeedsonadune（沙丘）primroseduringspring．Non-nativeSaharamustard（芥菜）seeninthebackgroundisaweedthatcompeteswiththenativeplantsforwaterandnutrients．Insomeareas，mustardgrowssodenselythatitisnearlyimpossiblefordeserttortoisestopassthrough．Vehicles，whichdonotstayonbuiltroadsanddonotgetwashedfrequently，contributetospreadingweeds．
