InthisAsiancentury,asWesternpowergetsweaksteadily,Australiawillbeleft“beached”aloneastheonlyWesterncountry(togetherwithNewZealand)inAsia.Twenty-twomillionAustralianswillhavetolearntodealwith3.5billionAsianswithgreatcareandsensitivity.

Whilemostengineersgointotraditionalfieldssuchasmechanicalandelectricalengineering,theEngineerGirlsitealsohighlightsunusualengineeringcareersinfieldssuchassportsengineeringand—believeitornot—chocolateengineering.

“There’sasectioncalled‘whybeanengineer’,andthattalksaboutthemanyopportunitiesandincreasinglydifferentopportunitieslikewithbio-engineeringandenvironmentalengineering,somefieldsthatmightappealtogirlswhowanttomakeadifferenceorhaveameaningfortheircareersbeyondearninganincome.”
