I'mastudentatMaebashiInstituteofTechnologyinGunma.ItislocatedbetweenKomagataandShinmaebashiontheJRRyomoLine.It'sonly10minutes
fromJRMaebashistationonabusorataxi.
Maebitwasoriginallyfoundedin1952asajuniorcollegeanditevolvedintoafour-yearcollegein1997.Todaytherearesome700studentsinboththejunior
collegeandthefour-yearundergraduateschool.
Ourschoolofferstwosetsofprograms,thedaycourseandtheeveningcourse.Studentscanchoosewhicheversuitstheirconveniencesbestfromthosetwocourses.
Manylessonsherearetaughtinsmall-sizedclasses.
I'mintheDepartmentofInformationEngineering.MyfieldofstudyisRobotics.

thelaboratorybuilding,andmanyotherfacilities.Ourdepartmentbuildingliesinthe
northwestcornerofcampus.Thisbuildingwasbuiltaboutfiveyearsago,and

everythingisstillnewinthisbuilding.
Therearemanyclubs,butI'mnotamemberofanyclub.Oneofmyfriendsisa
memberoftheTennisClubinwhichthereare5members.Theypracticeevery
WednesdayandSaturdayafternoon.Theyarehopingtomakeitintothebest8inthe
comingintercollegiatetournament.
Ilikemycollege.Ihavealreadymadesomegoodfriendsandwe'reenjoyingour
schoollife.
CopingwithStressinCollege
Collegelifecanbeverystressful.Sometimesparents,facultyandotherstendtoidealizetheircollegeexperienceandrememberitasthatidyllictimewhentheyhad
fewworriesorresponsibilities.Tostudentscurrentlyattendingcollege,however,the
processisoftenstressfulandfrustrating.Thecompetitionforgrades,theneedto
perform,relationships,careerchoice,andmanyotheraspectsofthecollege
environmentcausestress.
Butbeforecondemningstressoutright,weneedtounderstandthatstressisonlyharmfulwhenitisexcessive.Muchofthestressthatweallexperienceishelpfuland
stimulating.Thechallengesoflifetendtobestressfulandanattempttoavoidstress
completelywouldleadtoaratherboringexistence.Theproblemcomeswhenyou
experiencetoomuchstress.
Therearefourprimarysourcesofstress:
theenvironment,(noise,pollution,
traffic,crowding,andtheweather),physiology,(illness,injuries,hormonal
fluctuations,andinadequatesleepornutrition),students’thoughts(negativeself-talk,
catastrophizing,andperfectionism),andsocialstressors(financialproblems,work
demands,socialevents,andlosingalovedone).Symptomsofstressappearinmany
forms.Somesymptomsonlyimpactthepersonwhoisdirectlyexperiencingstress,
whileothersymptomsmayhaveanimpactonourrelationshipswithothers.
Althoughsomestressreactionsarepartofdeeperandmoreseriousemotional
problems,manyarenot,andcanbehandledwithrelativelysimplecounselingand
stress-managementtechniques.Developingabalancedlifestyle,gainingperspective
bydiscussingproblemswithotherstudentsortutors,specifyingrelaxationtechniques,
