WirelessLANTestRequirements
1.0Purpose
ThepurposeofthisdocumentistodescribethetestrequirementsfortheAskeyWirelessLANUnit.ThisrequirementisforinternalWirelessLANtesting.
TestPhilosophy
Thephilosophyduringmanufacturingtest,whichincludesIn-CircuitandFunctionalTest,istofacilitateasmuchtestingaspossibleatIn-CircuitTestwheremaximumfaultisolationmaybeachievedataleveragedcost.Functionaltestingshallthenverifybasicproductfunctionalityfromanend-userperspective,i.e.thattheunitsyncs-uptoaGoldensampleacrossapackettransmit,rateadaptivemodewithinthespecifiedraterange,atthetargetmargin,andtransfersdatacorrectly.Functionaltestmustverifyconfigurationofthedevice.SampletestingforOn-GoingTesting(ORT)reliabilityandOutputQualityControl(OQC)auditsmustbedone.
2.0TheFlashProgrammingProcess
belowillustratewherefirmwareandprogrammablecodemaybeinstalledintotheunit.
1.ECN(EngineeringChangeNotice)andNewProductOriginalDatafilesmustbereleasedwhenRDreleasedfirmwarefilesbyemailordisk,
2.PEEngineersreceivedthefirmwarefileandconfimedthelatestECN
3.PEEngineersverifyfirmware,confirmchecksumandmakeMaster
4.PEassistantsavingfirmwarefilesandMasterwhenverificationpass.
5.FirmwareisrejectedandPEengineersgiveafeedbacktoRDwhenverificationNG
6.TEengineerswriteSOP
7.PDoperatorborrowsMasterfromPEassistantandmakearecord
8.QCchecksthefirstunitwhichismakedbyPDoperator.
9.PDoperatorreturnsMasterwithin3daysandPEengineerconfirmstheMasteragain.

3.1General
ThissectiondescribesthetestsexecutedtocompletethefunctionalverificationoftheWirelessLANinaccordancewiththeEngineeringTestSpecification.Theteststationisdesigned/builtin-housebyAskeyTestEngineering.ThetestEquipmentisshowninTable1.
AVisualBasictestprogramcontrolsallequipmentandconnectionsduringthetest,andmakesGo/No-Godecisions.Thefunctionaltestflowdiagramisshowninfigure2.

3.2On-GoingReliabilityTest(ORT)
Purpose
Thepurposeofthisprocessistocompressaproductsearlymortalityperiodandreduceitsfailureratetoacceptablelevelsasquicklyaspossible.Ideallytestingcarriedoutperthisprocedurewillassistinpreventinglatentpart,manufacturingprocess.Throughtheuseofeffectivecorrectiveactionswhenfailuresoccur,thisprocesscanandwilleliminatefailuresthatwouldotherwisegouncheckedwithroutinequalitytestsandprecipitatethemselvesinthefield.TestingistotakeplaceonexistingproductswithactiveelectronicpartsatthepostFunctionalTeststage.Thisprocessprovidesanearlywarningindicationofaproductscontinuedabilitytomeetoperationalrequirements.Testingisusedinadditiontoroutineproductiontestsi.e.Functional,otherQualitytests.Testingisconsideredmoreextensivethanroutineproductiontests.

Procedure
FullytestedWirelessLANproductswillbeputintoatemperaturechamber
Theminimumcycletimeshouldbe24hours.
Ataminimum,theunitsmustbemonitoredforwirelessLANpingtheentiretest.Anylossofpingtestshouldbeevaluatedasafailure.
Allunitsmustbere-functionaltestedafterthetemperaturescreeningtoverifywirelessLANoperation.Anyfailuresatthepost-ORTfunctionaltestmustbeevaluatedasORTfailures.
ORTUnitSample
Randomsamplesofproductionproductshallbeselectedandtested.Samplerateshouldbeapproximately6pcsunitseachproductiondayforeachmodel.
3.3OutputQualityControlTest(OQC)
OQC
Arandomsampleof3-5%ofproductionshouldbere-testedtodetermineoperationofthewirelessLAN.Thistestshouldbeasubsetoftestsfromthefunctional(RX)testthatverifiesPER(packeterrorrate),Sen(sensitivity)andcheckMAC.Thesetestsshouldverifyonly,notperformanyconfigurationoftheunit.
