Economicliberalismwastheprevailingeconomicphilosophyinmuchofthenineteenthandearlytwentiethcenturies,andtheU.S.economydevelopedwithinitsframework.Economicliberalismpromotedfreedomofactionfortheindividualandthefirmthroughthedoctrinesoffreetrade,self-interest,privateproperty,laissez-faire,andcompetition.
