Prettymuchbydefinition,themilitaryisadangerousplaceforhumans.Thismakesitalogicalapplicationforrobotics,butIdefinitelyhavemixedfeelingsaboutthat.Icanlivewithrobotsassistingsoldiers,butautomatedkillingistakingittoofar.AtleftweseetheSmartCraneAmmunitionTransferSystembeingdeveloped bytheRoboticsResearchCorporation.Thegoalisforonesoldiertobeabletounloadtheentiretruckwithouteverleavingthecab.Thesystemincludescameras,videoscreens,forcesensorsandspecialgrippers.

Thephotoatleftshowsaroboticmine-sweeper.Itisbasicallyatractorwithabunchofswingingchainsmountedonthefront.Thesechainspoundthegroundwith
