Hediscoveredthatpileatedwoodpeckerscanindeedthrive(兴盛)inthesuburbs,solongastreecoverremainsabovetwentypercent,andaslongastherearesomelargedeadtreesavailablefornesting.Theywereperfectlyhappymakingnestsinsuburbanbackyards,aslongasthetreeorbranchwasdead.
