Whenhetookoffice,GeorgeW.Bush,sonofformerpresidentGeorgeHerbertWalkerBush,becamethefirstsontofollowhisfatherintotheWhiteHousesinceJohnQuineyAdamsfollowedJohnAdamsintheearly19thcentury.

BushwasbornonJuly6,1946,inNewHaven,Connecticut,thefirstchildofGeorgeHerbertWalkerBushandBarbaraPierceBush.AlthoughGeorgeHerbertWalkerBushbeganhiscareerintheoilindustry,hefinallyservedasacongressman（国会议员）,andvice（副）presidentandpresidentoftheUnitedStates.
