Let’slookatIrishstereotypes,forexample.Inthe19thcentury,Irelandsufferedafamine,andIrishpeopleleftforothercountriesaroundtheworld.ButwhentheyarrivedincountriesliketheUS,theywerestereotypedasdrunkards(酒鬼)andpot-lickers(大胃王),sincetheyweresaidtoeateverytinginsight.Thisledtoaviolentanti-Irishattitude.
Eventhestereotypesthatseeminnocentmayhavedeeproots.TakethestereotypicalFrenchman:
