It’snotthatstereotypesareallbad–theyoftenshowwhat’suniqueaboutacertainculture.

Let’slookatIrishstereotypes,forexample.Inthe19thcentury,Irelandsufferedafamine,andIrishpeopleleftforothercountriesaroundtheworld.ButwhentheyarrivedincountriesliketheUS,theywerestereotypedasdrunkards（酒鬼）andpot-lickers（大胃王）,sincetheyweresaidtoeateverytinginsight.Thisledtoaviolentanti-Irishattitude.
Eventhestereotypesthatseeminnocentmayhavedeeproots.TakethestereotypicalFrenchman:
