Intheeightyearssincethatembarrassingmoment,RyanandLowryhavebuiltMethodintotheworld’slargesteco-friendlycleaningbrand.Theirgreenproductsusenaturalingredientslikecorn,coconutoilandpalmoilandarepackedinattractive,recyclablecontainers.Intheprocess,theychangedtheperception(感觉,看法)ofgreenhome-careproducts—andtheindustry,too.
RyanandLowryhadbeenfriendssincehighschool,butitwasn’tuntilaftercollegethattheyhitontheideaofahome-care-productcompany.“Wewereshockedtolearnhowpoisonouscleaningproductswere”saysRyan.Whycouldn’ttheycreategreenproductsthatwouldbefashionable,fragrantandenvironmentallyharmless?

”Notdiscouraged,Lowry,thechemicalengineer,beganexperimentingwithnon-poisonouswaystoclean,whileRyan,theadvertisingguy,focusedonmarketing.InFebruary2001,theycreatedtheirfirstfourcleaningspraysandconvincedthemanagersof20independentgrocerstotrythem.
Whentheylaunchedtheirtriple-concentrateddetergent(三倍强度洗涤剂)theygotridofthehugebottlesthatweretheindustrystandard.Wemadethemeasiertohandle,andbetterfortheenvironment,”saysRyan.“Now,almostalldetergentsareconcentrated.”
