Intheeightyearssincethatembarrassingmoment,RyanandLowryhavebuiltMethodintotheworld’slargesteco-friendlycleaningbrand.Theirgreenproductsusenaturalingredientslikecorn,coconutoilandpalmoilandarepackedinattractive,recyclablecontainers.Intheprocess,theychangedtheperception（感觉,看法）ofgreenhome-careproducts—andtheindustry,too.

RyanandLowryhadbeenfriendssincehighschool，butitwasn’tuntilaftercollegethattheyhitontheideaofahome-care-productcompany.“Wewereshockedtolearnhowpoisonouscleaningproductswere”saysRyan.Whycouldn’ttheycreategreenproductsthatwouldbefashionable，fragrantandenvironmentallyharmless?

WhenRyan’smotherheardabouttheplan，shestaredathimblankly,“I’veneverevenseenyoucleanyourroom!

”Notdiscouraged,Lowry,thechemicalengineer,beganexperimentingwithnon-poisonouswaystoclean,whileRyan,theadvertisingguy,focusedonmarketing.InFebruary2001,theycreatedtheirfirstfourcleaningspraysandconvincedthemanagersof20independentgrocerstotrythem.

Whentheylaunchedtheirtriple-concentrateddetergent（三倍强度洗涤剂）theygotridofthehugebottlesthatweretheindustrystandard.Wemadethemeasiertohandle,andbetterfortheenvironment,”saysRyan.“Now,almostalldetergentsareconcentrated.”
