The“H”and“N”inthevirus’namerefertotwokindsofproteins(蛋白质)onthesurfaceofthevirus.Anychangeofthenumbersofthetwoproteinsindicatesanewmutation(变异).Mostofthemutationsonlyaffectbirds,suchaschickensandpigeons,anddon’tnormallyspreadtohumans.Butoncetheydo,theresultscanbedisastrous.
