CharlesDickensisoneofthegreatestcriticalrealistsintheVictorianAge.HisnovelsofferamostcompleteandrealisticpictureoftheEnglishbourgeoissocietyofhisage.LittleDorritisonethemostfamouslongworkofCharlesDickens.
Thispapercomparesthechangesofcharactersintheirpersonalitiesinthenovel,LittleDorrit,inthefirstandsecondpartofthework.Inthefirstpart,thecharacters,whentheyarepoor,areputaroundtheMarsahlseaprison,thedebtor'
sprison.Inthesecondpart,theybecomerich,andthestoryaboutthemisonthebackgroundofthesocialprison,theBritishsociety.Bothofthetwopartsprovethattheycannotbreakawayfromthecageofthecapitalistsociety.Infact,CharlesDickensislookingforwardtogettingridoftheshacklesofsociety.Hehopesthatthedifficultiesinhischildhoodcanbereleased,andthesocietycanmakegreatprogressandachievequickdevelopment.
Alloftheothermembers’misbehaviorinLittleDorrit’sfamilyshowedusapictureofthedarksideofthehuman’sinnerheart.Thisthesisisgoingtotalkaboutpersonalityofthecharactersintwodifferent“prison”inLittleDorrit.Throughanalyzingtheirmindstates,wecanrevealthementalstuporofthepeopleinthatage.Andthepurposeofthispaperismainlytoattractpeople’sattentioninourday.Allofusshouldlearnalessonfromit,andtrybesttogetridofthatkindofinconsistenceofpersonalityinourlives.
