rent/hire
两者都可以表示“租用”,但用法不同。
rent一般用于租借物件,多数情况下强调长期的“租借,出租”,偏重租金,其租借的对象一般是房舍、土地或较大型的工具。
hire可以是暂时的“租用”物件,也可以是俺工作量或时间“雇佣”人。

解析:
(1)句中whatIrememberedmost是主语从句,连词what在从句中作宾语,意为“……的”。
在复合句中用作主语的从句叫主语从句。
从句作主语时为整体含义,谓语动词用单数。
