  Assessed(评估)separately,factorspositivelyassociated(有关系)withlanguagedevelopmentincludingeachadditional100conversationsadayandeach1,000wordsincreaseinthenumberofwordsspokenbyadultsandheardbychildren.Whenlookedatalone,TVwasnegativelyassociatedwithlanguagedevelopment.But,whenthethreefactorswereanalyzedtogether,theonlyonethatstoodoutwasconversationbetweenadultsandchildren.

  “Themoreachildspeaksandinteractswithanadult,thebetterideaaparenthasaboutwherethechildis,”Zimmermansaid.“Althoughit’smostlydoneunconsciously,parentswillprovidefeedbackandcorrectmistakes.They’llalsotailortheirspeechtothechild.Parentscangiveachildwordsbytalkingtothemaboutwhatthey’redoing,suchas,‘I’mputtingonyourpajamasnow’.Butgiveyourchildtheopportunitytotalk,hopefullywithouttherestofthenoiseintheenvironment
