Thatglobalwarmingcouldincreasetheriskofdesertlocustcrisiswasproposedovertenyearsago,andinFebruary,theUNSecretary-GeneralAntó

nioGuterresstatedthatthecurrentoutbreakislinkedtotheeffectsofclimatechange:

“warmerseasmeanmoreperfectbreedinggroundforlocusts”.Theoutbreakhasitsoriginsin2018,whenaseriesofwindstormsintheArabianPeninsula（阿拉伯半岛）enabledthewarmandwetconditionsthedesertlocustrequirestobreedandbandundetectedinremoteregions.Thoughourfocushereismigrationwest,dreadfuloutbreaksofthedesertlocusthavebeenexperiencedtotheeast.

Thesituationisgoingoutofcontrol.Arescueoperationandfinancialsupportadmitnodelay.TheFoodandAgriculturalOrganization（FAO）cantakeoutonlyUS$138millionforrapidresponseandimmediateaction—controllingthespreadofthedesertlocustandsafeguardinglivelihoods.Theysaythemathsisclear:

abouthalfthefunding（资助）isneededforsupervision,groundandskycontrol,andunitingefforts;
