4Introduction

TheCoreNetworkenablesthetransportofSS7signallingprotocolsbetweentwoentitiesbymeansofdifferentunderlyingnetworks(e.g.MTP-based,IP-basedorATM-based).

ThetransportofSS7signallingprotocolmessagesofanyprotocollayerthatisidentifiedbytheMTPlevel3layer,inSS7terms,asauserpart(MTP3-user)shallbeaccomplishedinaccordancewiththeprotocolarchitecturedefinedinthefollowingsub-clauses.Thelistoftheseprotocollayersincludes,butisnotlimitedto,SignallingConnectionControlPart(SCCP).

ThetransportofprotocolswhichcanbeidentifiedasSCCP-users,likeforexampleTCAP,andinturnthetransportofTCAP-userslikeMAPandCAP,shallalsobeaccomplishedinaccordancewiththedefinedprotocolarchitectures,sincetheirprotocolmessagesaretransferredasSCCPpayload.
