OnJuly30,1619,thefirstmeetingofanelectedlegislature,arepresentativeassembly,washeldinVirginia.Amonthlater,stillinVirginia,aDutchshipbroughtinover20NegroesasservantsforatermofyearstomakeastarttowardtheenslavementofAfricanswithinwhatwastobetheAmericanrepublic.
Thisphenomenonstillexistsintoday’sAmericansociety,suchastheracialdiscrimination.Untilnow,theblackpeoplestillreceivetheunfairprejudice.However,thesocietyinAmericaisfulloffreedom,especiallytothewhitepeople.Theyhavealotofrightsintheirlife.

In1648,LordBaltimoreappointedaProtestantgovernor,andthenextyear,theMarylandTolerationAct,whichassuredfreedomofworshiptoallwhobelievedinJesusChrist,waspassed.
Becausetheprotestantmajoritywerecapitalistic-mindedpeopleandrefusedtocarryoutthefeudalplan,andbecausethewildernessofNorthAmericaprovidedplentyoflandwhilelaborwasscarce,itwasimpossibleforLordBaltimoretohavehisfeudalplanexecuted.Notlongafterthefoundingofhiscolony,thefeudalexperimentalplanwasdropped,andthecolony,likeothercoloniesinNorthAmerica,followedacapitalistdevelopmentroad.
