ISO(theInternationalOrganizationforStandardization)isaworldwidefederationofnationalstandardsbodies(ISOmemberbodies).TheworkofpreparingInternationalStandardsisnormallycarriedoutthroughISOtechnicalcommittees.Eachmemberbodyinterestedinasubjectforwhichatechnicalcommitteehasbeenestablishedhastherighttoberepresentedonthatcommittee.Internationalorganizations,governmentalandnon-governmental,inliaisonwithISO,alsotakepartinthework.ISOcollaboratescloselywiththeInternationalElectrotechnicalCommission(IEC)onallmattersofelectrotechnicalstandardization.
TheproceduresusedtodevelopthisdocumentandthoseintendedforitsfurthermaintenancearedescribedintheISO/IECDirectives,Part1.InparticularthedifferentapprovalcriterianeededforthedifferenttypesofISOdocumentsshouldbenoted.ThisdocumentwasdraftedinaccordancewiththeeditorialrulesoftheISO/IECDirectives,Part2(seewww.iso.org/directives).

Thisdocumentprovidesacommonmanagementtoolfororganizationsprovidingeducationalproductsandservicescapableofmeetinglearners'
andotherbeneficiaries'
requirements.

Thereisacriticalandcontinuousneedforeducationalorganizationstoevaluatethedegreetowhichtheymeettherequirementsoflearnersandotherbeneficiaries,aswellasotherrelevantinterestedpartiesandtoimprovetheirabilitytocontinuetodoso.
NOTEAclassificationofinterestedpartiesineducationalorganizationsisprovidedinAnnexC.
Althougheducationalorganizationsandlearnersworldwidearethemainbeneficiariesofthisdocument,allinterestedpartieswillbenefitfromstandardizedmanagementsystemsineducationalorganizations.
EXAMPLEEmployerswhosponsorandencouragestafftoparticipateineducationalservicescanalsobenefitfromthisdocument.

0.3RelationshipbetweenthisdocumentandotherInternationalStandards
Thisdocumentisastand-alonemanagementsystemstandard,alignedwithISO9001.Itfocusesonthemanagementsystemsofeducationalorganizationsaswellastheimpactoftheseonlearnersandotherrelevantinterestedparties.
ThisdocumentconformstoISO’srequirementsformanagementsystemstandards.Theserequirementsincludeahighlevelstructure,identicalcoretext,andcommontermswithcoredefinitions,designedtobenefitusersimplementingmultipleISOmanagementsystemstandards.
Thisdocumentcanbeimplementedalongsideregional,national,open,proprietaryandotherstandardsorrelateddocuments.

0.5.1General
Thisdocumentpromotestheadoptionofaprocessapproachwhendeveloping,implementingandimprovingtheeffectivenessofanEOMS,toenhancelearnerandotherbeneficiarysatisfactionbymeetinglearnerandotherbeneficiaryrequirements.Specificrequirementsconsideredessentialtotheadoptionofaprocessapproachareincludedin4.4.
Understandingandmanaginginterrelatedprocessesasasystemcontributestotheorganization’seffectivenessandefficiencyinachievingitsintendedresults.Thisapproachenablestheorganizationtocontroltheinterrelationshipsandinterdependenciesamongtheprocessesofthesystem,sothattheoverallperformanceoftheorganizationcanbeenhanced.
