Cooperativecommunicationisavirtualmultiple-inputmultiple-output（MIMO）system.Toincreasethereliabilityofsignaltransmittedwithoutincreasingtheamountofcommunicationdevices,thistechnologytriestomakeeachantennashaveoneormorepartnersthatassistthemtotransmitthesignal.Inwirelessnetwork,thedevicesnotonlytransmittheirownsignalbutalsoassisttheir“partner”totransmittheirsignalforsavingthecostofinstallationofadditionalantennasatbothreceiverandsender

Inthisthesis,wefocusonintroducingthreemainprotocolsincooperativecommunication:

Amplify-and–Forward（AF）,Decode-and-Forward（DF）andCodedCooperation（CC）.TheperformanceandmathematicalequationsofAFandDFareanalysed,andthenMATLABprogramswerecreatedtosimulatetheperformanceofthesetwoprotocols.

Aboutthethreeprotocols,themainproceduresarealsointroduced.TheperformancecomparisonforAFandDFindifferentsignal-to-noise（SNR）aredemonstrated.TheresultpresentsthattheDFprotocolshasbetterperformancethanAF.Finally,somerecommendationsandfutureworkarementionedattheendofthethesis.
