Thegreatestproblem,though,iscost.Themoneyoftheearliestresearchprojectwasprovidedbythegovernment,butthatmoneyhaddriedup,andit’snotclearwherefuturemoneywillcomefrom.Partlyforthatreason,andpartlybecauseofadvancesinsafety,miningisnotnearlyasdangerousasitwasinthepast.Since1990,fatalities（致命性）havedeclinedby67%andinjuriesby51%,accordingtotheNationalMiningAssociation.
