@#@03@#@Broughtupinashabbyandcrampedsmallapartment,IwasfascinatedinmychildhoodbytheexquisitehousesandcondominiumsIwatchedonTVinimagesthathadbeenshotinthedevelopedcountries.IthassincebeenmydreamtobuildupinChinathesamekindofqualityhumanhabitat.IbelievethatthisdreamcancometrueifIgettoundertakeadvancedstudiesinarchitectureatyouruniversity.@#@IamnowerectingfundamentalbuildingblockstowardstherealizationofmydreamattheHarbinInstituteofTechnology（knownasHIT）,fromwhichIamscheduledtograduatenextyear.Thiseliteinstitutionacceptedmein1995inrecognitionofmystrongperformanceintheNationalUniversityEntranceExaminations,heldonceeveryyearnationwidetoscreenhighschoolgraduatesforhighereducation.Here,Ihavereceivedvigoroustraininginstructureengineering,anareaofstudythatisessentialtothecountry'@#@sfrenziedconstructionindustry.@#@Deeplyinlovewithmychosenareaofstudies,Ihaveturnedmymindintoanengineofcreativityduringthreeyearsofdisciplinedlearning.Coursesofmymajor,particularlystructuremechanics,architecturematerial,andsurveyofengineering,fascinatemesomuchthatIamsometimescompletelyenthralledinstudyingthem.Lookingnowatthereinforcedconcretestructuresaroundme,Inotonlydetecttheconfigurationinsideeasilybutalsoarriveatsomepreliminaryassessmentofitsstrengthsandweaknessesquickly.Everythingthatcomesintomysightpresentsitselfintheframeworkofsomeformofstructure.Carefullygroomedastheonlychildinmyfamily,Icannotstandbeingthesecondbestinanygroupandsituation,especiallywhenitcomestoacontestofintellectualcaliber.AtHIT,Ibeattheoddsandexcelledallmostofmyfellowstudentsinacademicstudies,makingmyselftheundisputedacademicleaderoftheclass.StudentsandfacultyalikearesoaccustomedtomyacademicexcellencethateverybodywouldbesurprisedinclassifIhappennottobeabletoansweraquestionbetterthanothersevenonce.Mymottois:

@#@oneeithercomesoutthefirst,orheisafailure.Theuniversityhasawardedmeastringofscholarshipsandotheraccoladesinpraiseofmyacademicachievements.@#@ButIamnobookworm.Infact,Iamconstantlyengagedinahostofextracurricularactivities,forwhichIhavebeenconferredaSpecialCommendationforParticipationinSocialActivities.Ihaverunandwonthepositionofmonitorinmyclassduringmyfirstsemester,whichmademeanaturalstudentleader.Activeoncampus,IwasthenappointedtherecreationofficeroftheStudentAssociation,inchargeoforganizingentertainmentandotherrecreationaleventsforthebenefitofthestudents.InowalsoserveasthepresidentoftheSocietyofStudentArchitectsandEngineers.Suchinvolvementinthestudentaffairshastemperedmyskillsinleadership,organizationandcommunication.Butmoreimportantly,ithasbroadenedmyhorizonanddeepenedmyinsightsintermsofwhatconstitutesbeauty,graceandstrength,whichIbelievewillalwayshelpmeinmyengineeringdesigns.@#@Iwouldliketomentionheremypassionforauniquelyorientalsportcalledweiqi,knownasthegointheEnglishparlance.Anintricatechessgame,itischallengingtoeventhebestandbrightestminds.Oneusuallyhastobeafull-timeplayertoplayitwell.Nottobedaunted,InotonlyjoinedtheWeiqiCluboncampusbutalsotakenpartinanationalcontest,inwhichIwonthe12thplaceandtheHITteamIledwonthe3rdplace.Myachievementintheweiqisporttestifiestomysuperiormentalpowerandintellectualresourcefulness.@#@Totapfullyintomyintellectualresources,Iwouldliketotakeupthegreaterchallengesofhelpingtodesignmycountry'@#@sskylinesinthe21stcentury.Forthat,IneedbettertrainingthatwhatIhavereceived.AnAmericaneducationwillexposemwtonewperspectivesandendowmewithnewinspirations.WhenIgettocombinemyChineseperspectiveswiththoseoftheWest,Ishouldhavenotroublefulfillingmyambitionofcuttingoneofthebeststructureengineersintheworld.Withthat,IwanttodesignandbuildthemostbeautifulstructuresinChina.@#@Toensurebothmyfutureandthatofmycountry'@#@sconstructionindustry,IsincerelyhopethatIcouldbeadmittedintoyouruniversity.Iamconfidentthat,ifIcanbeluckyenoughtostudyunderyourseasonedguidanceandwithyourkindfinancialassistance,manypeopleinChinawillneverhavetoendurethekindofshabbyandinconvenientapartmentsthatIenduredasachild.@#@@#@WrittenbyAdministrator@#@Monday,26April201023:
