二、词语辨析
1.silent/quiet/still/calm/noiseless
silent主要指人“沉默的"
“不出声的"
，但不一定无活动。
quiet意为“安静的"
“宁静的"
，指人时表示生性安静，不易激动;
用于自然环境时，指没有干扰活动、没有喧闹声的寂静状态。
still意为“安静的"
“不动的"
，不指心理状态，而是指环境和人“静的，静止的"
状态。
calm意为“镇静的，平静的"
，主要指人“沉着镇定"
，指自然“无风无浪”。
noiseless意为“声音很轻的"
“无声的"
，常用来形容机器。
2.search/searchfor/lookfor
search作为及物动词，其宾语可以是人、房屋、衣袋、山、森林等名词，意为“搜身或搜查某地”。
searchfor意为“搜寻，搜索某人或某物"
，而search…for意为“搜寻某处、某物以找到……”。
lookfor意为“寻找"
，是常用语;
而searchfor意味较强，指用很大注意力搜寻。
3.probably/possibly/maybe/perhaps
这四个词都表示可能性，但在程度和用法上稍有不同。
probably意为“大概，很可能"
，比perhaps和possibly所表示的可能性大。
possibly意为“也许，可能"
，不如probably表示的可能性性大，通常与can，may，could，might，must等情态动词连用;
perhaps作“也许"
解，有“也许如此，也许不如此"
意思，它和possibly的意味相似。
maybe作“也许"
解，同perhaps意思接近，但比perhaps更为普通而又不那么庄重。
perhaps是英国英语，maybe是美国英语。
