Whentalkingaboutthefamoussitcoms,manypeoplewillreferto“Friends”and“MyOwnSwordsman”.ThisisnothardtounderstandbecausebothofthemareveryoutstandingandsuccessfulsitcomsinAmericaandChina.Althoughthetwositcomsareverydifferentinmanyaspectssuchasplotandreleasedate,theyhavebothperfectlymirroredthefeaturesoftheiragesandcountries.Justbecauseofthis,wecouldclearlyseebothofthetwocountries’culturalvaluesviathemandthenfeeltheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandAmerica.
“Friends”isanAmericansitcomscreenplaybyDavidCraneandMartaKauffmanwhichairedonNBCfromSep.22,1994toMay6,2004.Intotal,ithas10seasons,236episodes.Thesitcommainlytellsabouttheinterestingandhumorousstoriesofsixyoungfriends(Ross,Rachel,Chandler,Monica,JoeyandPhoebe)inanapartmentofManhattan,NewYorkCity.ThelifeofthesixfriendsisavividreflectionofthelifeofAmericanyoungpeople,soitattractsmanyaudiences.What’smore,dependingonitshumorouswordsandupsanddownsoftheplot,“Friends”becamefamousveryquickly.
“MyOwnSwordsman”isaChinesecostumepiecescreenplaybyNingCaishenwhichwasreleasedintheyear2006.Intotal,ithas80episodes.Thesitcommainlytellsabouttheinterestingandhumorousstoriesofsixmenwithcharacter(BaiZhantang,TongXiangyu,LvXiucai,GuoFurong,LiDazuiandZhuWushuang)inataverncalled“TongFuTavern”.Thesitcomquicklybecamefamousbecauseofitsnonsenseandhumorousplots.Theaudienceratingof“MyOwnSwordsman”hadoncereached7%.Itisnothardtotellhowpopular“MyOwnSwordsman”isinthatmoment.
