ChengzhenqiushouldberegardedastheforerunnerinthefieldofC-Etranslationofpoliticaltext.Hetriestooffersomewaystosolvetheproblemsinaspecialsortofpoliticaltexts.HisfamousbooknamedOnProblemsofTranslation-ASeriesofTalksGivenattheInstituteofJournalismwaspublishedin1980.Chengpointsoutthatweshouldlaymuchemphasisonpoliticalconsiderations,correctandthoroughunderstandingoftheoriginalbycomparingdifferentversionsofEnglishtranslations.

ThereisaconflictbetweenChinaEnglishandChinglishintheprocessoftranslationofpoliticaltexts.ZhuangYizhuan,inhisbookE-CTranslationaBriefCourse,pointsoutthatChinglishisoftenseeninEnglishtranslationpublishedinChinesepublications.Therearetworeasonsforthisphenomenon:

1thetranslatorstrytogiveaword-for-wordrenderingforlackofathoroughunderstandingoftheoriginal;

2theyfollowtheChinesecollocationandsentencestructurewithoutpayingenoughattentiontothefeaturesoftheEnglishlanguage.Onthebasisofzhuang’stheory,thispaperwillcompareChinaEnglishwithChinglishtoservetheEnglishtranslationofpoliticaltexts.WhenitcomestoChinglish,ZhaoYushan,inhisbookChineseEnglishandTranslationofCurrentaffairs’teams,explainsthatthetranslationofpoliticaltextsfromChinaEnglishperspective.HethinksthatweshouldavoidChinglishintheprocessoftranslation.Healsopointsoutthatwemustunderstanddeeplytheconnotationofpoliticaltermsandcannotaddanddeletewordsatrandom.Inhisarticle,ZhaodistinguishesChinglishfromChinaEnglishwithChinesecharacteristicswhichsuppliesmypaperwithmanyreferences.

HuZhuanglin,inhisbooknamedlinguisticsAcoursebookputsforwardthatlexicalchangesarethequickestandeasiestforpeopletonotice.Asfaraswordsorexpressionsareconcerned,theyareaddedtoEnglishthroughvariousprocessesatthedifferentlevelsoflanguage.WhatHusaysmakesmeknowthattheChinesepoliticalwordsarealsochangingandthenewwordsareappearingconstantly.It’scalled“neologism”inthispaper.Healsothinksthatconnotationreferstotheabstractpropertiesofanentity,whiledenotationreferstotheconcreteentitieshavingtheseproperties.It’sreallynotaneasytasktodealwiththerelationshipbetweenconnotationanddenotationinEnglishtranslationofpoliticaltexts.

InhisbookCultureandTranslation,SongRongjiangholdsthatwhenwetranslatesomewordswithChinesecharacteristicsintoEnglish,wecannoteasilyfindappropriateandequivalentonesinanydictionary.ThereasonistherearedifferencesbetweenChinaandEnglishspeakingcountriesinhistoricalandculturalbackground,politicalandeconomicsystemsandsocialideologyetc.SoaccordingtolinguisticfeatureofEnglish,translatorsneedtocreateEnglishexpressionwhicharenotonlyinkeepingwithourcounty’scultureandthoughtmethod,butalsocoincidewithEnglishcharacterstomakethewesternpeopleknowingbetterourlanguage.

Thispaperadoptsseveralmethodologies,suchasinductionandillustrationetc.Soagreatnumberofexamplesareneeded.TheseexamplesaremainlyselectedfromDengXiaopingTheoryinEnglishversionandTheReportofthe17thnationalcongressofC.P.C.whichareextremelyauthoritative.

Thispaperalsoabsorbsalotfrombookswritingwrittenbyforeignexperts.Newmarkcallspoliticaltextsasauthoritativestatements,includingpoliticalspeeches,documentsbyministersorpartyleaders,statutesandlegaldocuments,scientificphilosophicalandacademicworkswrittenbyacknowledgedauthorities.Meanwhile,inhisbookAboutTranslationNewmarkbelievesthatthereisnotenoughstraighttranslationofpoliticaltextsinthepressandelsewhere.Theoriginalsareoftenconcealedinthetargetlanguageversionsforpoliticalreasons.Heholdsthatpoliticallanguage’smainuseofacronymsforthetitlesofpoliticalpartiesandorganizations.Thetranslationisdevelopmentoncontextualfactors:
