Abstract:
Inordertomonitorconstructionmachinery’sperformanceandquality,anintelligentmonitoringapplicationsystemispresentedinthepaper.Thesystemmakessitemonitoringcellinstalledoneveryconstructionmachineryasitsterminal,GPRS(generalpacketradioservice)asitsnetworkcarriers,intelligentmonitoringcenterascontroller.ThesystemcansupervisetherunningstatusandalarmwhenitsworkstakeplaceabnormalityonlineonthebasisofGPRSnetwork,ARMembedded-systemanddata-basedesignbasedonLabWindows/CVI.

1.INTRODUCTION
Theperformanceandqualityoftheconstructionmachineryhasaveryimportantinfluenceontheconstructionschedule.Butconstructionmachineryhasahigherfailureratebecauseofitscomplexstructure,uncertainloadandpoorworkingenvironment[1].Therefore,thesupervisionoftheconstructionmachinery’sperformanceisastickingpointforthestabilization,safetyandreliabilityofconstructionwork.Withthesocialdevelopmentandtheadvancementoftechnology,peoplehavebecomeincreasinglydemandingontheperformancemonitoringandfaultdiagnosisofconstructionmachineryinordertogetahigherefficiencyandlowerconsumptionofconstructionproject.Thenew-generationconstructionmachinerynotonlyneedintegratingoperationandintelligentcontrol,butalsoneedcooperatingwiththewholeconstructionmachinerygroupwhosecontrolsystemisbasedonnetwork.Atpresent,thetraditionalconstructionmachinerywhichisonlydesignedbygeneralelectroniccontroltechniquesanditstraditionalregularmaintenancecannotmeettherequirements.Soanewconstructionmachinerymonitoringsystem,whichcanfinishthelocalcentralizedcontrol,supervisionandmaintenance,andcanalsocarryoutremote-distancemonitoranddiagnose,hasbecomeahotresearchproblem[2]-[5].
Inordertosupervisetherunningperformanceoftheconstructionmachinery,thispaperproposesaconstructionmachineryonlinemonitoringsystemwhichisbasedongeneralpacketradioserviceGPRSnetwork.Thissystemcansupervisesomeparameterssuchasspeed,pressureandtemperatureoftheconstructionmachinerythroughthelong-distancesupervisedterminal.
Iftheconstructionmachinery’smaintenancepersonwantstoknowtherunningstatusoftheconstructionmachinery,hecansentashortmessagetothesupervisioncellofthesystem,andthenthesystemsenttherunningparametertothemobiletelephoneofthemaintenancepersonorthemonitoringcenterbyGPRSmodulethroughthecommunicationnetworkandInternet,sotherealtimesupervisionoftheconstructionmachineryisrealized.Thissystemcanalsosetupthealarmboundaryofsomeimportantparametersoftheconstructionmachinery,iftheconstructionmachineryappearsabnormal,thesystemwouldsentthealarminformationtothemobiletelephoneofthemaintenancepersonorthemonitoringcenter,sothetroubleoftheconstructionmachinerycanbefixedupimmediately.Inpracticeitshowsthesuperiorityofthesystem.
2.THESYSTEMSTRUCTURE
2.1Intelligentmonitoringsystemstructure
Theintelligentmonitoringsystemmainlyconsistsof3parts:
sitemonitoringcell,GPRS,andintelligentmonitoringcenter,asShowninFigure1.Sitemonitoringcellissetupineachconstructionmachinery.AnditcommunicateswithintelligentmonitoringcenterthroughtheGPRSwirelessnetwork.Inaddition,thesystemstructureisathree-layermodel.Thesitemonitoringcellisthelowerlayer,focusingontheaccessofdevicestatusinformation.Intelligentmonitoringcenteristheuppersystem,focusingonprocessingofstatusandfaultinformation.Betweenthelowerandtheupperlayer,GPRSfinishestheircommunications.
GPRSnetworkisacommunicationmediumofthewholesystem,throughwhichshortmessage,voice,andtowkindsofpacketdata(IPandX.25)canbereceivedandsent.Controlterminal(mobilephone)isaremotecontrollerandthedisplayinthesystem,whichisresponsibleforsendingavarietyofshortcommandmessage(suchasthecommandformonitoringtherealtimestatusofconstructionmachinery)andreceivetheshortreturnmessage(suchastheimplementationoftheshortcommandsmessage,andthealarminformationoffault).Intelligentmonitoringcenterisresponsibleforreceivingthedatafromsitemonitoringcellandmanagingavarietyofinformation.
2.2SitemonitoringcellstructurebasedonARMembeddedsystem
SitemonitoringcellisdesignedanddevelopedbytheARMMCUanditsauxiliaryequipments.TheARMarchitecturehasevolvedtoapointwhereitsupportsimplementationsacrossawidespectrumofperformancepoints.ThearchitecturalsimplicityofARM
