Abstract:

UndesiredgenerationofradiatedorconductedenergyinelectricalsystemsiscalledElectromagneticInterference(EMI).High

speedswitchingfrequencyinpowerelectronicsconvertersespeciallyinswitchingpowersuppliesimprovesefficiencybutleadstoEMI.Differentkindofconductedinterference,EMIregulationsandconductedEMImeasurementareintroducedinthispaper.CompliancywithnationalorinternationalregulationiscalledElectromagneticCompatibility(EMC).PowerelectronicsystemsproducersmustregardEMC.ModelingandsimulationisthefirststepofEMCevaluation.EMIsimulationresultsduetoaPWMBucktypeswitchingpowersupplyarepresentedinthispaper.ToimproveEMC,sometechniquesareintroducedandtheireffectiveness

I.INTRODUCTION

FASTsemiconductorsmakeitpossibletohavehighspeedandhighfrequencyswitchinginpowerelectronics 1.Highspeedswitchingcausesweightandvolumereductionofequipment,butsomeunwantedeffectssuchasradiofrequencyinterferenceappeared 2.Compliancewithelectromagneticcompatibility(EMC)regulationsisnecessaryforproducerstopresenttheirproductstothemarkets.ItisimportanttotakeEMCaspectsalreadyindesignphase 3.ModelingandsimulationisthemosteffectivetooltoanalyzeEMCconsiderationbeforedevelopingtheproducts.Alotofthepreviousstudiesconcernedthelowfrequencyanalysisofpowerelectronicscomponents 45.DifferenttypesofpowerelectronicsconvertersarecapabletobeconsideredassourceofEMI.TheycouldpropagatetheEMIinbothradiatedandconductedforms.Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN) is required formeasurement and calculation of conducted interference level 6.InterferencespectrumattheoutputofLISNisintroducedastheEMCevaluationcriterion 78.Nationalorinternationalregulationsarethe

II.SOURCE,PATHANDVICTIMOFEMI

Undesiredvoltageorcurrentiscalledinterferenceandtheircauseis

calledinterferencesource.Inthispaperahigh-speedswitchingpowersupplyisthesourceofinterference.

Interference propagated by radiation in area around of aninterferencesourceorbyconductionthroughcommoncablingorwiringconnections.Inthisstudyconductedemissionisconsidered only.Equipmentsuchascomputers,receivers,amplifiers,industrialcontrollers,etcthatareexposedtointerferencecorruptionarecalledvictims.Thecommonconnectionsofelements,sourcelinesandcablingprovidepathsfor conducted noise or interference. Electromagnetic conductedinterferencehastwocomponentsasdifferentialmodeandcommonmode9.

B.Commonmodeconductedinterference

Commonmodenoiseorinterferencecouldappearandimposebetweenthelines,cablesorconnectionsandcommonground.Anyleakagecurrentbetweenloadandcommongroundcouldbemodeledbyinterferencevoltagesource.

III.ELECTROMAGNETICCOMPATIBILITY

Application of electrical equipment especially static powerelectronicconvertersindifferentequipmentisincreasingmoreandmore.Asmentionedbefore,powerelectronicsconvertersareconsideredasanimportantsourceofelectromagneticinterferenceandhavecorruptingeffectsontheelectricnetworks 2.Highlevelofpollutionresultingfromvariousdisturbancesreducesthequalityofpowerinelectricnetworks.Ontheothersidesomeresidential,commercialandespeciallymedicalconsumersaresosensitivetopowersystemdisturbancesincludingvoltageandfrequencyvariations.ThebestsolutiontoreducecorruptionandimprovepowerqualityiscomplyingnationalorinternationalEMCregulations.CISPR,IEC,FCCandVDEareamongthemostfamousorganizationsfromEurope,USAandGermanywhoareresponsiblefordeterminingandpublishingthemostimportantEMCregulations.IECa
