High-contextculturesprefertousehigh-contextmessageswhichareimplicit,indirect,conveyedprimarilythroughthecontextorthesocialsituation.Inhigh-contextcultures,peopleareveryhomogeneouswithregardtoexperiences,informationnetworks,andthelikeandinformationisoftenprovidedthroughgestures,theuseofspace,andevensilence.

6.Low-contextculture

Low-contextculturesprefertouselow-contextmessages,inwhichthemajorityoftheinformationisvestedinexplicitcode.Inlow-contextcultures,thepopulationislesshomogeneousandthereforetendstocompartmentalizeinterpersonalcontacts.

7.Connotation

Connotationsrefertotheadditionalmeaningsthatawordorphrasehasbeyonditscentralmeaning.Thesemeaningsshowpeople’sattitudesorfeelingstowardwhatthewordorphraserefersto.Connotativemeaningsreflectthevaluingprocessofinterpretation.

8.Denotation

Denotationsofawordorphrasearethemeaningsthatrelateittotheobjectsorconceptsreferredto,theactualorfictional“thing”thataresymbolized.Mostwords,especiallysimpleconcretewords,haveseveraldenotations.
