资产定价理论文献综述
⏹资产定价是金融学研究的重要领域之一,也是研究最系统、成果最丰富的领域之一。
⏹Bachelier(1900)
⏹这个领域已有的文献综述方面的重要工作包括
⏹综述性论文Campbell(2000),Sundaresan(2000)和Constantinides(2002)
⏹教科书FoundationsforFinancialEconomics(Huang和Litzenberger(1988)),DynamicAssetPricing(Duffie(1992)),AssetPricing(Cochrane(2001)),Options,Futures,andOtherDerivatives(Hull(2003));
⏹论文集TheoryofValuation(Bhattacharya和Constantinides(1988)),Continuous-TimeFinance(Merton(1990));以及2003年由Constantinides,Harris和Stulz主编的《金融经济学手册》(HandbookoffinancialEconomics)B卷。

⏹总的而言,资产定价理论分为两类:
⏹一类利用均衡市场的无套利条件,得到非常一般的结论。
⏹资产定价理论的另一类需要对投资者的偏好作出特定的假设,但会得到比不需要效用函数条件下更特殊的定价约束。
⏹主要工作是在二十世纪八十年代以前完成的,正如Duffie所言:

focusesonpriceformation,orderflowandtrading.Inthemostgeneralsense,itshouldincludethefollowingtwoareas.
•Market(in)efficiency:
focusesoninformationandconstraints.
•Assetpricingwithfrictions:
focusesmostlyonthevariousconstraintsonthemarketparticipants(e.g.transactionscosts).
MARKETMICROSTRUCTURE
Marketmicrostructuredealswiththepurestformoffinancialintermediationthetradingofafinancialasset,suchasastockorabond.Inatradingmarket,assetsarenottransformedbutaresimplytransferredfromoneinvestortoanother.Thefieldofmarketmicrostructurestudiesthecostoftradingsecuritiesandtheimpactoftradingcostsontheshort-runbehaviorofsecuritiesprices.Costsarereflectedinthebid-askspread(andrelatedmeasures)andincommissions.
Investorsareinvolvedinthreedifferentmarkets:
themarketforinformation,themarketforsecuritiesandthemarketfortransactionservices
●Marketmicrostructuredealsprimarilywiththemarketfortransactionservicesandwiththepriceofthoseservicesasreflectedinthebid-askspreadandcommissions
●Themarketforsecuritiesdealswiththedeterminationofsecuritiesprices.Theliteratureonassetpricingoftenassumesthatmarketsoperatewithoutcostandwithoutfriction,whereastheessenceofmarketmicrostructureresearchistheanalysisoftradingcostsandmarketfrictions.
●Themarketforinformationdealswiththesupplyanddemandofinformation,includingtheincentivesofsecuritiesanalystsandtheadequacyofinformationThismarket,whileconceptuallyseparate,iscloselylinkedtothemarketfortransactionservicessincethedifficultyandcostofatradedependsontheinformationpossessedbytheparticipantsinthetrade.
MarketmicrostructureandassetpricingbothconsiderthebehaviorandformationofpricesinassetmarketsYetneitherliteratureexplicitlyrecognizestheimportanceandroleofthefactorssocrucialtotheotherapproach
●Marketmicrostructureanalyzesthebehaviorandformationofpricesinassetmarkets.Fundamentaltothisapproachisthebeliefthatfeaturesoftheparticulartradingmechanismsusedinmarketsareimportantininfluencingthebehaviorofassetprices
●Theasset-pricingliteraturealsoconsidersthebehaviorandformationofassetpricesThisliteraturefocusesonlinkingasset-pricedynamicstounderlyingeconomicfundamentals
●Whilethesetwoliteraturesshareacommonfocus,theyalsoshareacommonflaw:

Intheconsumption-basedcapitalasset-pricingapproach(inwhichrationalindividualschooseassetholdingstomaximizetheirexpectedutilityofconsumptionovertime)thisstochasticdiscountfactoristhediscountedratioofmarginalutilityofconsumptionatt+1tomarginalutilityofconsumptionatt.
Fromthisbasicpricingequationfollowthetwoprinciplesthatmuchoftheliteratureexamines
●First,idiosyncraticriskshouldnotbepriced.Thepriceofanassetisitsexpectedpayoffdiscountedbytherisk-freerateplusthecovarianceofitspayoffwiththestochasticdiscountfactor.Ifthiscovarianceiszerothereisnoadjustmentinpricefortheriskintheasset'spayoff;ormoregenerally,ifthepayoffontheassetiscorrelatedwiththemarket,onlythecorrelationispricedandanyidiosyncraticriskisnotpriced.
●Second,viewingthereturnonanassetasitsdividendplusitsfutureprice,itfollowsfromthebasicequationthatassetpricesnetofdividendsfollowmartingales.Thedistributionusedincomputingtheexpectationistheoriginaldistributionofpayoffstransformedbythestochasticdiscountfactor.Thisissimplytheriskneutralprobabilitymeasure.Inthecaseinwhichindividualsareriskneutral,orthereisnoaggregaterisk,anddiscountingisignored,orincludedinadriftterm,thisreducestotherandomwalkhypothesisforprices.Thishastheimportantimplicationthatassetpricesarenotpredictableinthesensethatsimpletradingstrategiesbasedonpastpricebehaviorcannotbeprofitable.Fromthisstandardasset-pricingpointofview,regardlessofhowassetpricesareactuallyattainedintheeconomy,anasset'sriskandreturncanbeanalyzedfromtheunderlyingdecisionproblemsconfrontingagentsintheeconomy.
Thissimplestory,oravariantofit,hasprovedausefulconstructforcountlesseconomicanalysesofassetprices.Unfortunately,theeleganceofthisstorymaybedeceptive.Assetpricedynamicsaremuchmorecomplexthanthischaracterizationallows:
●Individualscanfacesubstantialtransactioncostsinbuyingandsellingsecurities,andthesecostscaninfluencetheirdemandforandsupplyofsecurities.
●Priceadjustmentsmaybecomplicatedbymarketmaker'sinventorypositions,bypricediscreteness,orevenbyexchangepricecontinuityrules
●Theinformativenessofassetpricesiscomplicatedbytheexistenceofprivateinformationthattransformssecuritiestradingfromasimpletransactionintoastrategicgamebetweentraders.Thistransformationalsoimpartsimportancetoothermarketdatasuchasvolume,tradesize,andthetimingoftrade,aseachofthesevariablescanbeinformativeoffuturesecuritypricemovements
●Thesedifficultiesraisethespecterthatequilibriuminassetpricesisbestviewednotasanoutcome,butasaprocessinwhichtheassetpricecannotbeviewedindependentlyofthemechanismbywhichitisattained.
How,then,toreconcilethispictureofasset-pricingdynamicswiththeidealizedonegivenabove?
●Oneansweristoarguethatthesecomplicationsaresecond-ordereffects;thattheidealizedversionofassetpricedynamicsis"closeenough",particularlyifassetpricesarelookedatoverlongtimeintervals.Moreover,sincemicrostructureresearchfocusesonthetrade-by-tradedeterminationofprices,anymicrostructureeffectsmusteitherbeveryshort-livedordiversifiableacrosssecuritiesinanycase.
Yet,numerousresearchershavefoundthatasset-pricemovementsexhibitpredictablepatternsbothinthe
