10.I’vebeenlearningEnglishforthelastfiveyearsandoneofthethingsthathashelpedmetoimproveisreading.Ilovereadingandoftenreadduringmyfreetime.First,IstartedreadingeasythingsinEnglish,likerecipesforcookingandshortstoriesthatarewrittenespeciallyforlanguagelearners.ThenImovedontolongerstoriesandnewspaperarticles.AtfirstIfoundreadingdifficultbecauseofthevarietyofvocabularyandthegrammar,butthissoonbecameeasierandIfoundthatIcouldunderstandmoreandmoreofwhatIwasreading.Ididn’tworryifIdidn’tknowallthewords,asIcouldstillunderstandthemainideas.ReadinghashelpedimprovemyEnglishinmanyways.I’mnotonlyabetterandquickerreader,butmyspelling,writing,punctuation,grammarandvocabularyareallmuchbetter.IthinkI’veimprovedfasterthansomeofmyfriendswhohavebeenlearningatthesametimeasme.So,Iwouldsaythateveryonewhowantstolearnalanguagequicklyshouldread.
11.Butlittlebylittle,thepilesofgoldcoinsinhiscottagegrewhigher.Theharderheworked,thelesshespentonhimself.Hecountedthecoinsintopilesoften,andwantedtoseethemgrowintoasquare,andthenintoalargersquare.Hewasdelightedwitheverynewcoin,butitmadehimwantanother.Hisgoldbecameahabit,adelight,areasonforliving,almostareligion.Hebegantothinkthecoinswerehisfriends,whomadethecottagelesslonelyforhim.Butitwasonlyatnight,whenhehadfinishedhiswork,thathespenttimewiththem.Hekeptthemintwobags,underthefloorboardsneartheloom.
