1.2ServiceSummary
TheProductionPilotJumpstartOfferingisdesignedtohelpyourcustomersimplementaformalizedandscalablepilotsolutiontotestthenewplatformanddeploymentapproachinaproductionenvironment.Thisisacriticalsteptoassessinfrastructureandorganizationreadinessbeforeabroad-scaleadoption.
TheserviceincludesfourworkstreamstocreatethecorecapabilitiesneededtodeployamodernbusinessdesktopusingZeroTouchdeploymenttechniques.
ProductionPilotJumpstartisasafixedpricedOfferingwithscopeandtimelimits.Theengagementhasbeendevelopedtoprovidecustomerswithreal-worldhands-onexperiencetohelpdeveloparoadmapforafullproductiondeployment.
1.3EngagementOverview
TheProductionPilotJumpstartsolutionisacombinationoftheOfferingsthatmakeupDesktopOptimizationusingWindowsandMicrosoftOffice,andApp-VfromtheDesktopVirtualizationSolutionsOffering.
TheProductionPilotJumpstartprovidesfixed-scopedeployment-relatedservicestoenableacceleratedandmoreefficientmigrationtotheWindows®7operatingsystem,Microsoft®InternetExplorer®8,andMicrosoftOffice.
ToaccomplishthefixedcostandscheduleoftheOffering,weestablishedasetofconstraintstoensurethecustomerexperienceskeyaspectsofadesktopdeploymentwhilefittingwithinthescope.

ThisguidewillwalkyouthroughtheprocessofdeliveringtheProductionPilotJumpstartengagements.TheProductionPilotJumpstartengagementisbasedonthefollowingphases:
¾Pre-EnvisioningPhase.Provideinitialguidancetothecustomertoensurethattheprojectstartsquickly.Thiscanincludeakickoffteleconferencewiththecustomertoensurethattheyhavetheinformationandresourcesrequiredwhentheprojectstarts.
¾EnvisionPhase.Provideguidancefortheenvisioningphase,inwhichyouwillconductthekickoffmeeting,completeDiscoveryandAssessment,anddelivertheVisionandScopedocumentandtheinitialprojectplan.
¾PlanPhase.Provideguidancefortheplanningphase,inwhichyouwillmapouttheinitialstagesofdiscovery,strategy,andarchitecturaldesign,includingaProofofConcept(POC)inalabenvironmentfordesignvalidation.
■POC–Ensureyourenvironmentisreadytogo,includingtesting,evaluating,andcollectinguserfeedback.Inaddition,determinetheoptimalwaytodeployMicrosoftWindowsandtheMicrosoftOfficesystem,dependingonyourscenarios:
ZeroTouchInstallation(ZTI)orLiteTouchInstallation(LTI).
¾BuildPhase.Provideguidanceforcreatingandtestingtheimage,preparingthedeploymentenvironment,andconductingITtraining.
■OrganizationReadiness–Gainfromend-userandITtechnicaltrainingresources,includingausertrainingplanandcommunicationforthedeploymentofWindows,InternetExplorer8,andtheMicrosoftOfficesystem.
¾StabilizePhase.Implementtheproductionpilotdeployment,inaproductionenvironment,forvalidationbyagroupofusers.
¾DeployPhase.Provideguidanceforthedeployingphase;youwilldeliverthefinalcustomerpresentationandcloseouttheengagement.
ThepurposeofthisguideistohelpyouunderstandthemethodologybehinddeliveringtheProductionPilotJumpstartOffering.Itisnottheintentionofthisguidetoprovidetrainingondesktopdeploymenttopics;itishighlyrecommendedthatallmembersoftheconsultingteamhavespecifictechnologytrainingonthesetopics.LinkstotrainingresourcesarelistedinSection8.
Thisguideisorganizedtosupportthosewhoaredeliveringanengagement.Thelayoutismodeledaftertheapproachyoushouldtakeduringtheproject;theguidancefortheactivitiesappearsintheorderinwhichtheyshouldbeperformedduringatypicalengagement.

ThisOfferingprovidestemplatesforallengagementpresentationsanddeliverables.EachofthesetemplatesisaMicrosoftOfficefilethatshouldbecustomizedbytheconsultingteam.
EachtemplateisbuiltusingtheMS@WorkTool,andalsocontainsinstructionaltextaboutrequiredcustomization.Makesurethatyouremovethecustomizationinstructionsbeforesendingthedocumenttothecustomer.
ThetemplatesthatareMicrosoftOfficeWorddocumentsusethefieldfeaturetofacilitatethecustomizationprocess.UsetheMS@WorkbuttonsintheAdd-InstabofOfficetocustomizethefields.
2.1.2GuidanceandJobAids
ThefollowingguidanceisincludedintheOffering:

2.1.4WorkshopMaterialPreparation
BeforeyouconducttheWorkshop,youwillneedtopreparetheWorkshoppresentationsandtheWorkshopagenda,aswellasanyvirtualmachinesyouwanttopreparefordemosduringtheworkshop.Thefollowingstepsarecriticaltorunningasuccessfulworkshop.
1.Preparationofthepresentationdeck–Inthepresentationdeck,thereareasetofslidesthatshouldcontaincustomer-providedinformation.ThesearetheslidestitledAssumptions:

2.Preparationofthepresenter–Thepresentershouldprepareforthedeliverybythoroughlyreadingtheprovidedmaterials.ThepresentershouldreadtheWorkshoppresentationdeckincludingallofitsnotes,andfurtherresearchanyadditionaltopicsheorshemightnotfullyunderstand.
