Therearesofarover170Basqueorganizationsin24countries,withagreaterpopulationofBasquesoutsideoftheBasquecountrythaninit.Theseparationtheyexperiencefromtheirhomelandisbothphysicalandpsychological,sobeingpartofagroupwiththesameinterestsisanimportantsocialsupportsystem.TheseorganizationscontributetothecontinuationofBasqueculture,language,andcommunity,andencouragefuturegenerationstolearnabouttheirethnicheritage.Oneofthewaystheyachievethisisthroughdance.

WhilelearningandperformingBasquedances,theyconnecttotheirheritage,experienceapartoftheirhomeland,preserveBasqueculture,andcreateconnectionsandfriendshipsthatlastalifetime.
