6.admit的用法
1)admit作“准许进入”、“允许参加”解释。
例如:
①Openthewindowtoadmitsomefreshair.
打开窗子透透新鲜空气。
②Suchpeopleshouldn’tbeadmittedtotheParty.
这样的人不能吸收入党。
2)admit可作“承认”解释,这时,其后可跟名词、动词的-ing形式、宾语从句或宾语+宾语补足语。
例如:
(1)Johnadmittedknowinglittleaboutthesubject.
约翰承认是他打碎了窗子。
(2)Theboyadmittedthathehadbrokenthewindow.
那男孩承认是他打碎了窗子。
(3)Youmustadmittheworktobedifficult.
你应当承认这项任务是艰巨的。
【注意】admit后可接不定式作宾补,但不可接不定式作宾语,如例句(3)。
3)admitof:
作“容许”解。
如:
(1)Thisisauniversaltruthwhichadmitsofnoexception.
这是一条毫无例外的普遍真理。
4)admitto:
承认。
(1)Imustadmittobeingashamedforwhathadhappened.
发生这样的事我应承认我感到惭愧。

1)单独使用。
Itisyourfault.Youmustapologize.这是你的过错,你必须道歉。
Ireallydon'tknowwhoistoapologize.我的确不知道谁应该道歉。
2)表示“向……表示歉意”要加介词to。
Ifyouarelateforclass,youshouldapologizetotheteachereitheratthetimeorafterclass.
如果你迟到了,你要么当时,要么课后向老师道歉。
Whatyouhavedoneisright.Youneedn'tapologizetoher.
你做的事情是对的,你没有必要向她道歉。
3)表示“因……道歉”要加介词for。
—Imustapologizefornotlettingyouknowaheadoftime.没有提前通知你,我表示歉意。
—That'sallright.没关系。
IapologizedtoMaryfornotcomingtoherbirthdaypartylastweek.
我因上周没参加玛丽的生日聚会而向她表示歉意。
4)apologize的名词为apology,构成makeanapology短语,
Thecaptainmadeanapologytothepassengersforthedelaycausedbytheweather.
船长因天气造成的延误向乘客表示歉意。
TommadeanapologytoJaneforlosinghernewbike.
汤姆因丢失了简的新自行车而向她表示歉意。
19.blame
1)blamevt.,通常用于下面三个句型:
①blamesb.forsth./doingsth.为某事责备某人/责备某人做了某事。
如:
ManychildrenareafraidofbeingblamedformakingmistakesinspeakingEnglish.
许多孩子害怕讲英语时犯错误而受责备。
Heblamedhisteachersforhisfailure.
他把自己的失败归咎于他的老师。
Hiscompanion,blamedfortheaccident,hadnotbeendrivingcarefully.
他的同伴没有谨慎驾驶,应对事故负责。
②blamesth.onsb.把某事归咎于某人。
如:
ThepoliceblamedthetrafficaccidentonJack'scarelessdriving.
警察把那起交通事故归咎于杰克的粗心驾驶。
It'snouseblamingourdefeatonhim.
把我们的失败归罪在他头上是没用的。
Sheblamedthefailureoftheirmarriageonhim.
她把婚姻的失败归咎于他。
③betoblame(for)应(为……)承担责任;该(为……)受责备。
[注意]此处不能用被动语态。
如:
Thechildrenwerenottoblamefortheaccident.
那次事故怪不着孩子们。
Heismoretoblamethanyou.
是他更应受责备,而不是你。
Whoistoblameforstartingthefire?
这场火灾该由谁负责?
Iaminnowaytoblame.
决不该责备我。
2)blame用作名词时,常用于下列搭配:
①accept/bear/taketheblameforsth.对某事负责任。
如:
Youmustbeartheblamefortheaccident.
你必须承担造成这次事故的责任。
Wewerereadytotaketheblameforwhathadhappened.
我们愿对所发生的事负责。
②put/laytheblameforsth.onsb.将某事归咎于某人。
如:
She'llputtheblameonusifitturnsoutbadly.
如果结果糟糕,她将会怪罪于我们。
Heistryingtolaytheblameonme.
他企图把责任推给我。

20.Doubt
一.doubt用作动词
1.doubt+名词或代词。
例如:
Idoubthisword.我怀疑他的话。
Theydoubtedhimbefore.他们以前曾经怀疑过他。
2.doubt+宾语从句
(1)在否定句和疑问句中,doubt后面接that引导的宾语从句。
例如:
Idon’tdoubtthathecanfinishthetaskontime.
我相信他能按时完成任务。
Doyoudoubtthatshewillsucceed?
你怀疑她会成功吗?
(2)在肯定句中,doubt后面一般接whether或if引导的宾语从句。
例如:
Idoubtwhethertheycanswimacrosstheriver.
我怀疑他们能否游过河去。
Hedoubtsifshewillkeepherword.
他不敢肯定她是否会遵守诺言。
注意:
在肯定句中,doubt后面也可以接that引导的宾语从句,但表示疑虑较大或“不相信”。
例如:
Wedoubtthattheycancompletetheworkaheadoftime.
我们不相信他们能提前完成这项工作。
Idoubtthathewillcome.我看他未必会来。
二、doubt用作名词
1.doubt常与about/of/asto/on等介词连用。
例如:
Thereisnodoubtaboutit.
此事无可怀疑。
Ihavenodoubtofhisability.
对于他的能力我毫不怀疑。
Shehasherdoubtsastothisbeingtrue.
她怀疑这事是否真实。
Noonehasanydoubtonthispoint.
这一点没有人会怀疑。
2.doubt后面接同位语从句
(1)doubt用在否定句中,后面接that引导的同位语从句。
例如:
Ihavenodoubtthathewillsucceed.
我相信他会成功的。
Thereisnodoubtthattheywillagreewithyouonthismatter.
毫无疑问,他们在这件事上会同意你的意见的。
(2)doubt用在肯定句中,后面接whether引导的同位语从句。
注意不可以用if替换whether。
Hehadhisdoubtswhethertheywouldgivehimanotherchancetohaveatry.
他不能肯定他们是否会再给他一次机会试一试。
Thereissomedoubtwhethertheirfootballteamwillwinthematch.
他们的足球队会不会赢得这场比赛还不能肯定。
3.由doubt组成的一些短语
(1)indoubt怀疑;拿不定主意。
例如:
Weareindoubt(about)whattodonext.
我们不知道下一步要做什么。
Whenindoubtaboutthemeaningofaword,consultthedictionary.
当你对一个词的意义没有把握时,就查一下词典。
(2)no/without/beyonddoubt无疑地;必定;当然。
Itisnodoubtdifficult.这无疑是困难的。
Nodoubthedidn”tmeantohurtyou.他肯定不是有意伤害你的。
Withoutdoubtthisisthebest.无可置疑,这是最好的。
Beyonddoubthewillgiveyousomeadviceonyourstudy.
毫无疑问,他会给你的学习作一些指导的。
(3)makenodoubtof对……毫不怀疑。
Wemakenodoubtofhissincerity.
我们对他的诚意毫不怀疑。
Shemadenodoubtofwhathehadsaid.
她对他所说的话毫不怀疑。
(4)throw/castdoubton使人对……产生怀疑。
Galileo’sexperimentsthrewdoubtonAristotle”stheoryoffallingobjects.

①吸收(液体,气体,光,声等)
