“Thereappearanceofsuchacollectionisaveryimportantevent,”saidarthistorianSalvatoreSettis.“WhenIsawthecollectionforthefirsttime,itwasveryemotionalbecauseIknewmostofthosepiecesfrombooks,butIhadneverseenthem.”

TheTorloniafamilychoseSettistodothedifficultjobofdecidingwhichworksshouldbeshowntothepublic.AnnaMariaCarrubahelpedpreparethestatuesfortheshow.“Manyofthesepieceswerealreadyrestoredfromtheyear1600onwards.Wedidn’tneedtoworkonthestructureofthestatuesbutonlyonthesurfaces,cleaningthem,”shesaid.
