Withtheincreasingdemandonstorageresources,asorganizationsrelymoreheavilyondatathaneverbefore,ITadministratorsfacethechallengeofoverseeingalargerandmorecomplexstorageinfrastructure,whileatthesametime,trackingthekindofinformationavailableinit.Today,managingstorageresourcesnotonlyincludesdatasizeandavailabilitybutalsotheenforcementofcompanypoliciesandaverygoodunderstandingofhowexistingstorageisbeingused,allowingforsoundstrategicplanningandproperresponsetoorganizationalchanges.
FileServerResourceManagerisasuiteoftoolsthatallowsadministratorstounderstand,control,andmanagethequantityandtypeofdatastoredontheirservers.ByusingFileServerResourceManager,administratorscanplacequotasonvolumes,activelyscreenfilesandfolders,andgeneratecomprehensivestoragereports.Thissetofadvancedinstrumentsnotonlyhelpstheadministratortoefficientlymonitorexistingstorageresources,butitalsoaidsintheplanningandimplementationoffuturepolicychanges.
ByusingFileServerResourceManager,youcanperformthefollowingtasks:

ManagingStorageResourcesonaRemoteComputer
Tomanagestorageresourcesonaremotecomputer,youcanconnecttothecomputerfromFileServerResourceManager.Whileyouareconnected,FileServerResourceManagerwilldisplaytheobjectscreatedontheremotecomputer,allowingyoutomanagetheminthesamewaythatyoucanmanageresourcesonyourlocalcomputer.
