Imeanttomakeadifference.Throughjointefforts,myclassmatesandIendedupstartingtheGreenClubattheUniversityofLouisiana.ItfocusesoncreatingagreenattitudewithintheuniversityandthegreaterMonroearea.Whileworkingonit,Imetagroupofambitioushighschoolstudents,whosharedthesameconcernabouttheenvironmentasus.Whiletalking,wedecidedthatworkingtogetherwouldbenefitnotonlytheorganizationsatourschools,butalsothecommunityasawhole.Isweletthecommunityknowweareserious,thereisanevenbetterchancethatwewillsucceedandinfluenceothers.

Qualitativefeedbackisdifferentfromthesurveyresponses,whichstudentsareoftenaskedtoprovideattheendofaclass.“Thiskindofdatatakesalotoftimeforprofessorstocollectandanalyze,”Nordmarksaid.Andforthestudents,itcanalsobe“reallyboringtofillout.”SoNordmarkandhisfriendsdesignedHubertasacompromisebetweenatraditionalsurveyandapersonalinterview.“Youcanreachareallylargecrowd,butyoucanalsogetreallyqualitativedataback,”Nordmarksaid.
