ThepresentdocumentisatechnicalreportoftheLTEAdvancedCarrierAggregationinBand41workitemwhichwasapprovedatTSGRAN#52[2].Theobjectiveofthisworkitemistoprovidespecificationsupportforintra-bandcontiguouscarrieraggregationinLTETDDBand41.
Thereportprovidesmotivation,requirementsandalistofrecommendedchangestothespecifications.

IntheUS,upto194MHzisavailablefordeploymentofBand41basedLTETDD,withoftenlargecontiguous(40MHz+)blocksofchannelsavailable.Furtherdetailsonthespecificchannelandfrequencyblockarrangementofthisband,includingtheregulatoryrequirements,areprovidedin[3].
Manynetworkequipmentvendorsaresupporting,orplanningtosupport,dualcarrier,2x20MHzTDDradiosinthenearfutureforthe2600MHzband.
Duetothespectrumandnetworkequipmentavailability,Band41isaprimecandidatefordeploymentofRelease10basedLTE-advancedcarrieraggregationcapableUEs.
ThisworkitemwasinitiatedsothatRAN4couldworkondevelopingspecificationsupportforcontiguous,intra-bandcarrieraggregationforBand41tosupportdeploymentofLTE-advanced,buildingontheinitialgenericLTETDDCAworkthatisdevelopingtheframeworkforTDDintra-bandcarrieraggregationbasedonBand40.
4.1Taskdescription
ThepurposeofthisWIis:
a.BuildingontheLTEintra-bandCAworkcompletedforBand40,specifythecoreRFrequirementsforcontiguousintra-bandCAinBand41,specificallyconsideringaggregationofappropriatechannelbandwidthsupto:
i.60MHzattheeNB;
ii.40MHzattheUEwithamaximumof2CCsontheDLand1or2CCsontheUL
b.SpecifybandspecificRRMrequirements
c.StudyspecificsignallingsupportrequirementsinRAN2
d.Addtheperformancerequirementsforintra-bandcarrieraggregationforBand41intherelevantspecifications
ConformancetestingaspectswillbecoveredaspartofaseparateRAN5WI.
