3InPrague,Wintonsawpeoplelivinginterribleconditionsandwhoseliveswereindecidedtohelptransportchildrentosafetyinestablishedanofficetokeeprecordsofthechildren,andthenreturnedtoBritaintofindtemporaryhomesforuseddonatedfundsandhisownmoneytopaythe50poundsperchildthattheBritishgovernmentrequired.4

Later,Wintonreceivedvarioushonoursforhisachievement,includingaknighthoodin2003,andtheCzechgovernment'shighesthonour,theOrderoftheWhiteLion,in2014.

NicholasWintonpassedawayon1July2015,attheageoftheChinesesayinggoes,“Akindheartedpersonlivesalonglife.”
