Introduction

In2008,BarackObamahadbeenelectedasAmericanpresident,whichattractedtheWorld'seye,becausehewasthefirstAfricanAmericanpresidentoftheUnitedStates.Fouryearshadpast,Americanwouldbeelectedtheirpresidentin2012.Therehadtwocandidates,Obamaalsowouldre-elected.TheotherwasthePart'snomineeforpresidentMittRomney,FormerGovernorofMassachusetts.Theywouldholdthreedebatesonpresidentialelection.Thenextdebatewasfocusontherightsofwomenandotherproblemrelatedtowomen.ObamamadeaspeechatBarnardCollegeCommencementceremonyonmay14th,hisspeechmightberelatedtohisre-election.Obamaisatalentedspeaker,everyhisaudiencewillabsorbinhisspeechwhenhespeaking,whichmaybealsoisoneofthemainfactorthathewininpresidentialelectionatlast.Thatisthepoweroflanguage.ObamamadeaspeechatBarnardcollege,thisactionmakemanyfemalestudentssupporthim.Becausethatspeechbelongstothepersuasivespeech,heconvincedwomentoserveforsocietyandhetoldthemtheycanmakegreatcontributions.

Whenpeopledosomething,theywillhavetheirownpurposes.Somepeoplewanttofindapay-highjob,sotheygotocollege.Somepeoplewanttogoabroad,sotheylearnEnglish.Somepeoplewanttoaslimfigure,sotheydecidetobeonadiet.Whatevertheydo,theyhavepurpose.Obamaisapolitician,healsoisthepresidentoftheunitedstates.Onmay14th,2012,hehaddeliveredaspeechatBarnardcollegecommencementceremony.Atthattime,hewasthecandidateofpresidentialelection.Therearesomereasonsofhisaction.

1.1Thepresidentialelectionin2012

Theunitedstatesofpresidentialelectionof2012holdonNovember6th,whichwasthe57thpresidentialelectionoftheunitedstates.Everyfouryearsheldpresidentialelectioncampaign.First,electingthegroupofelectioncommissionandthentheywouldelectthepresidentandvice-president.Meanwhile,thelowerhousewhichhad435membersandtheSenatethathad33membersalsowouldbechanged.Andthennewmembersconstitutedthe113thCongressoftheunitedstates(Wyler,77).BarackObamaaspresentpresidentsoughtfornominationoftheDemocraticparty,hemadeitatlast,andhisopponentwasMittRomneywhoworkedforthePublicanparty.

1.2Thetwopoliticalparties

ThroughoutmostofAmericanstory,Americanpoliticshavebeendominatedbytwopartysystem.ItconsistsoftheDemocraticpartyandtheRepublicanparty.TheDemocraticparty,isoneoftwomajorpoliticalpartiesintheU.S.Itistheoldestpoliticalpartyintheworld.Itpositioneditselfasprogressiveandsupportinglaborineconomicaswellassocialmatters(Wyler,52).BarackObama,isthe15thDemocrattoholdtheoffice.TheRepublicanpartysupportsanAmericanconservativeplatform,withfurtherfoundationsineconomicliberalism,fiscalconservationandsocialconservation.FormerpresidentGeorgeW.Bushisthe19thRepublicantoholdthatoffice.Theparty'snomineeforpresidentoftheUnitedStatesinthe2012presidentialelectioncampaignwasMittRomney.Sincethe2010midtermelections,theRepublicanshaveheldamajorityintheunitedstatesHouseofrepresentatives.

Infact,thoughthetwopartiesserveforAmericanstate,theystandforthedifferentsocialgroups.theDemocraticpartyfightsforthesmall-middleclassgroup.Onthecontrary,theRepublicanpartystivesfortherichgroup.Soitisimportantthatwhichpartythepresidentcomefrom.Thepresidentialelectionneedspeoplevote.Inotherwords,whohashighvotes,whowinsthepresident.Peoplewillvotetheonewhobenefitthemalot,theycanknowaboutthepolicieswhichthecandidatespushbywatchingTVorlisteningtheirspeech,andthenchooseacandidatewhotheylike.Sothecandidatesalwaysmakeaspeechtomakepeoplesupporthim.Forexample:

Somepeoplemaythinkitisunnecessarytotakegreateffortandtimetogetwomensupport.Butitiswrong.WomeninAmericanhavecreatedahistory,thatalsoiswhypresidentObamadeliveredhisspeechatBarnardcollegecommencementceremony.Atpast,womeninAmericandidn'thavesuffrage.Thewomensuffragemovementbeganwiththe1848senecaFallsconvention.Theydemandedequalrightsforwomen.Manyoftheactivistsbecamepoliticallyawareduringtheabolitionistmovement.Thewomenrightscampaignduring"first-wavefeminism"forwomenfullequality.Ithadsomegroups,suchasNationalAmericanwomensuffrageAssociation,Nationalwomenparty,WomenEquityActionLeagueandthewomenAlliance(Joannou,195).ThesegroupshadgreatinfluenceonAmericanstate.Somepoliticiansrespondtothenewelectoratebyemphasizingissuesofspecialinteresttowomen,especiallyprohibition,childhealth,andworldpeace.Themainsurgewomenvotingcamein1928,whensomepeoplerealizedtheyneededthesupportofwomen(Wikipedia,"Women'ssuffrage").

ObamasaidittoallfemalestudentsatBarnardcollegethattheycanfightfortheirseatsatthetableandtheyshouldnotgiveupwhentheymeetthedifficulties.Studentsapplaudforhiswords,anditisnodoubtthatObamasuccessfullymakemoststudentsathisside.WomenlistenedhisspeechandknewObamacanbenefitthemalotwhenhewaswonre-electionasecondtermintheWhiteHouse,sotheywouldgivetheirvotestohim.ThoughObamadidn'tsayit,hislanguagedrovehisaudiencetodoit.

1.4Theimportanceofwomenvoting

Sincewomencouldvotein1920,ineachpresidentialelection,thecandidateswouldemphasizeissuesofspecialinteresttowomen.Soon2012presidentialelection,thedemocraticpartyandtheRepublicanpartyhaddebatedontheproblemsoffemalerightsandcreatingjobs.Accordingtothedata,thenumberofthefemalevotersaremore8.8millionthanman.Someresearchshowthatwomenvotingisakeytopresidentialelectioncampaign.Expertssaidthecandidateswhogainedthemorethanhalfofwomenvoting,hehadadvantagesoverthanhisopponents.Forexample,inlastpresidentialelection,53%ofwomenvotedforObama,hisopponenthad45%ofwomenvotes.

"Indeed,weknowwearebetteroffwhenwomenaretreatedfairlyandequallyineveryaspectofAmericanlife--whetherit’sthesalaryyouearnorthehealthdecisionsyoumake."

"Today,womenarenotjusthalfthiscountry;you’rehalfitsworkforce.Moreandmorewomenareout-earningtheirhusbands.You’remorethanhalfofourcollegegraduates,andmaster’sgraduates,andPhDs.Soyou’vegotusoutnumbered."

Heinspiredwomen,hetoldthemthatwomenwereimportanttothiscountryandwomenalsocoulddobetterthanmen.peopleshouldnotignorewomen,asturningoutfemalevoterswillbekeytohisre-electionprospects.

2.Thecharacteristicsbyhisspeech

Obamaisatalentedspeakerwithavoiceadmiredbyotherstatesman.Thesewordscomingoutofhismousebuildupafirstclassatatmosphere,makingaudiencezealous.Obamacanwritehimselfandcomeupwithproposalswhicharebasedonhisownthinking.withhisownideasinthespeech,Obamaspeaksconfidentlyandprofoundlyinanykindofceremony(Shi,65).Whenpeoplelearntheskillsfromhisspeech,theyalsocandoit.
