摘要
随着世界全球化,国与国之间的文化交流日趋频繁。
随之很多英文歌曲也涌入中国。
我们无论是在家看电视、听广播、玩电脑,还是外出在餐馆、购物均能听到英文歌曲。
除了娱乐功能外,歌曲其他的功能也逐渐被挖掘。
在这一过程中歌曲翻译的重要性便突显了出来。
本文以目的论为理论框架,以一些代表歌曲翻译为例,探索了歌曲翻译的步骤及方法。
第一部分介绍了此选题的目标意义及探究难度。
第二部分介绍了目的论的应用及歌曲翻译的相关探索。
第三部分介绍了歌曲的定义及分类。
第四部分介绍了歌曲翻译的相关理论及历史。
第五部分对目的论及其内容进行了详细的介绍。
第六部分介绍了目的论对歌曲翻译的指导意义及歌曲翻译的原则与方法。

Withthedevelopmentofglobalization,theculturechangesamongnationalworldaremoreandmorefrequent.Englishsongshavebeenimportedintochina.Theycanbeheardeverywhere--ontelevision,radioorcomputerwhenweathomeorinrestaurants,supermarkets.Exceptforitsentertainingrole,thefunctionofsongshavebeendiggingout.Duringthisprocess,songtranslationisbecomingmoreandmoreimportant.

Song,asanartisticform,broadlyexistsinthedailylife.Withit,ourlifebecomesenjoyable,relaxed,andfulloffun.Uncountablepeopleintheworldliketolistensongsandsingsongs.Why?
Fromtheancienttimestonow,songisthecarrierofemotionandhasbeenregardedasthemostsimplewaytoexpressideasandfeeling.Whatsmoreitcanservetopromotelanguagelearning.Recentyearshave shownanexplosionofinterestinusingEnglishsongsforlanguageteachingandlearning.However,noteveryoneisproficientenoughinlanguagesthatforeigntohimorher.Inordertocomprehendthemeaningandrendersongs,songtranslationcomestoexistence.WhenitcomestolearningEnglish,alotofstudentsaremoreinterestedinEnglishsongsthantheirbooks.Yetsometimeswithoutthehelpoftranslated-versionsofthosesongs,they cannotunderstandtheEnglishsongsthoroughly.SoforthebetteruseofEnglishsongsnotonlyinpeople’listening,singing,appreciatingandexpressingbutalsointeachers’languageteachingandstudents’self-studyand,songtranslationshouldbeconstantlyimproved.However,songtranslationstudiesarestillshortforthecomprehensiveandmorepracticaltheories.
1.1.ObjectivesoftheResearch
Songisakindofuniquelanguage.Ithasitsrhymeandrhythm.Thelyricsalwaysintheformofpoems,butthetranslationofpoemisthemostdifficultinliteraturetranslation.Hence,songtranslationisnoteasy.However,ifwemakeclearofthepurposeofsongtranslationanduseitasourguidetotranslatesongswhichmaymakeitmoresimpleandpractical.
Sowhatsthepurposeofsongtranslationisshouldbestatedatfirst.Firstly thetranslatedversionshouldbeunderstandableinordertoachievethe purposeofhelpingthelistenerstoknowthemeaningoftheoriginalsongs.Atthesametime,songscanbesingwiththemusic.
ThisthesisattemptstomakeastudyontheChinesetranslationofEnglishsongsfromperspectiveofSkoposTheory.ThisthesiscollectedandanalyzedmanyexcellenttranslatedEnglishsongsonebyone.Bydoingso,theauthorhopestofindsomeunderlyingprinciplesaboutEnglish一Chinesesongtranslation,mostimportantly,totestifytheapplicabilityofSkopos TheorytoChinesetranslationofEnglishsongs.
1.2SignificanceoftheResearch
Songtranslationisafrontierresearchsubjectandisacomplicatedtask.Itrequiresthetranslatorstohaveanintimateknowledgeofthereferencedlanguages,music,etc.Thedifficultiesofsongtranslationshouldnotbethereasonthatwegiveuponthisstudy.Besides,songtranslationplaysamoreandmoreimportantrolewithitsvariousfunctions.AsAndrewB.Kelly(1987)putsit:
(translatingsongs)improvesone’sknowledgeof,andearfor,thepronunciationoftheoriginalanappropriate,consistentstyleinEnglish;extendsone’understandingoftheoriginallanguagewellbeyondthelimitedareaof“donation”intotheconnotativefiled,anaturalpartofcommunicationinalanguageone’knows;stimulatesconcentrationandattentiontodetail;teachesdisciplinedmentalhabitsthatenrichone’scapacityfortheothertranslation;improve communicationbyremovingorhelpingtocrossoverculturalbarriers.(p25)
Thetranslatedversionsofsongsforthereceptorsoftargetlanguagealmost havethesamefunctionswithabovementioned.SotheopinionthatthereisnoneedfortranslatingEnglishsongsintoChineseisarguable.Somepeopleprefertoappreciatetheoriginalsongsbecausetheyinfavoroftheviewsthat“muchastheChinesetranslationisgood,theoriginalflavorandauthenticityaregone’’(ChenShuiping&HeGaoda,2009:
100),“onlythesourcetextoffersthewordssetbythecomposer,withalltheirphonicfeaturessuchasrhymesandvowel-sounds,andofcoursetheirinternalmeaning’’(Low,2003:
88).Andsomeregardtheabilitytosingintheoriginallanguagesasaproofoftheirlanguage-learningabilityaswellasachallengetheydemandforthemselvestoface.
Yetnoteveryoneisalanguage-master.ThepeoplewhoseEnglishisverypoorhastopracticethepronunciationalotoftimes.Inviewofthedifferentreceptorsanddifferentpurposesareconcerned,songtranslationisactualreasonable.ThoughEnglishhasachievedincreasingpopularityinchina,thereisstillalargeamountofEnglishsongsloverswhoseEnglishisnotverywellto appreciatethesongsandmakefulluseoftheminstudying.What’smore,songtranslationsisabranchoftranslationstudies.Itsbynomeanseasy.Atranslatorwithoutenoughknowledgeoflanguage,translation,music,andsoon,cannotdothisjobwell.
Therefore,itisofgreatconcernandsignificancetoapplyrelevanttheoriestoguidesongtranslationandexploresuitablemethodsofappropriatetranslation. SkopostheoryproposedbyHansVermeeroffersasoundtheoreticalbasis inthisfieldandleadstranslatorstoconductflexibleandappropriatetranslation.
Theauthorhopestofullyexertedthefunctionofsongthroughsuitableguidingtheoriesandreasonablemethods.
1.3DifficultiesandInitiativesoftheResearch
Songisakindofuniquelanguage.Ithasitsrhymeandrhythm.Thelyricsalwaysintheformofpoems,butthetranslationofpoemisthemostdifficultinliteraturetranslation.Hence,songtranslationisnoteasy.TranslationofforeignsongsbeganearlyinChinabutitsdevelopmentisnotsatisfactory.Atpresent,therearefewtranslatorsinChinaandalmostnofull-timeworkers.Andthequantityandqualityoftranslatedsongsareincreasinglydis-satisfactory.Inthesonganthologies,publishedinthe20thcentury,newlytranslatedsongsarehardlyfound
